OK, I admit can't remember who had the issue with a really bad looking RP filter, and I hope it was this thread, because...
I just received my RP 20-820 filter from Summit and it looks fine. It also seems heavy, as in extremely well made and heavy duty.

Pics, for the vast amusement of those concerned...

And by heavy, maybe it's just been a while, but I was surprised by the weight the instant I picked it up.

By my wife's digital electronic kitchen scale (yes, she will kill me!)
17.3oz and 490g for you metric heads.

So it was corey and it was a large issue for sure, we just dont have any info on storage from distr, shipping or manu's mistake. Rusty, bad media and degrading silicone. So yeah good pics help, but if it turns out to be a manu issue that would suck because it would likely involve 3 filters, ea and endurance being the others. So guys, be looking for rusty rp filters or cousin filters, coreys was not the first one, I have seen this before. Thanks to corey we have a better understanding how bad this can be.

Are the louvers not open very much on that Puro BOSS?
Something like a bore scope would be helpful, but using a nice flashlight and peeking through the center hole it appears the louvers are small and not consistent. The RP louvers appear larger and perfectly consistent. RP also has larger inlet holes.
I won't be using the Purolator, it was just hanging around since I bought the truck. Unless someone wants it for some reason it's going in the trash tomorrow.

Purolator: Made in Fayetteville NC, date code is 10/2017.
Royal Purple: Mexico, date code is 12/06/2022

On the off-chance the RP is too big to fit I've located a Fram Ultra Synthetic XG10060 locally. Should be smaller than the RP.
An extensive search throughout my county reveals that better quality filters are nearly impossible to find, regardless of manufacturer.

Can you get Wix XP?
I ran into that on the last Fram XG i bought,1/2 the louvers weren't fully punched. Now i'm checking them before buying
Yah Iv also been checking them since they have switched to this type of tube and we saw the issue here.

Maybe spin on filter just have to many variables that can go wrong. The cartridge type ones are kinda nice. Not sure of the down sides of them if there are any.

Stopped at my local Walmart this morning, they had both Fram Ultra Synthetic and Endurance. The 1st Endurance I pulled off the shelf looked good from the outside, and the louvers looked perfect when peeking through the hole. Date code is 10/2023.
I bought one.
I intend to have the larger RP 20-802 filter installed within a week or less, if it will fit. I bought the Fram to have on hand if needed for fitment.

EDIT: That's RP 20-820, not 20-802.

What drama. What suspense.
I tell ya, my nipples are rock hard.
