I am creeping up to my next oil change and was looking to try the RP 10-48 but I can't seem to get one here for less than $45.00, yes you read that right, so I might give the Fram Ultra XG10060 a shot as I can get them for $15.99 at my local Canadian Tire. I believe it was in the top three in testing at the beginning of this thread. Anyone here using one and happy with them? I have avoided using Fram and their "orange can of death" most of my life so I am a little concerned.
Fram Ultras are good filters. Have you priced out Amsoil filters? They're essentially the same filter as the RP filters....

Go to Mopac auto in Calgary. Or phone them first to check on price. They were cheapest for my filter. From the dissembling of them they look like solid filters.

Honestly, I don’t see anything wrong with Fram. That testing revealed they were pretty good. Even looking at a used opened up filter you can’t tell how badly clogged the filter media is in most cases.

Bill at Mopac will match prices to.

So products cost 3 times more but your health care is free? Heard this one before. Hmm. Carry on.

More to do with economies of scale and geographic distance. We are 1/10 your size in population and have a larger area.

Plus, our healthcare system ranks higher than yours, and has for some time.

I am not sure where I would find an Amsoil filter around here either and again the cost and shipping would be high but I will look into it.

Mopac is a fair hike from where I live but I can see if he sells them and how much. Thanks for the tip gixxer.

There is one problem with our health care system, the cost for health care for those of us WITH insurance, lol. I think the world can thank America for like 80% of the advancements in HC. We develop drugs and Canada sells those drugs cheaper then the country that invented them, lol. As for RP filters, my last batch came from across the country and cost me 13 bucks. sorry to hear it costs so much, fram ultra is likely as good.

Go to amsoil.com and click find amsoil near you. Type in addy or postal and click all the options. You should be able to find someone close to you.

Just called Mopac and they have 3 RP 10-48 in stock and sell them for $17.00 each, quite a difference from online pricing, shipping and brokerage fees.

Ask if they will price match.

Just installed my first one (at 30K), so I can't report how it looks cut open, but I definitely sleep well at night with that thing is hanging off my Hemi and has QSUD 5W-30 flowing through it! I don't think you can go wrong with the XG.

One of the several reasons I got it was because it was available at the new Walmart down the street not more than a few feet from the new oil I've begun using...love that convenience.

I thought Canadian Tire had them for 15.99? Maybe I’m just out of it today.

Turns out a guy I used to work with when I was a young punk, who now owns his own shop, is an Amsoil dealer too. I am waiting on a price for the Amsoil filter. If it is decent I will give it a shot since his shop is 5 minutes from my house and I have bought all sorts of vehicle stuff from him already over the years.

RP and amsoil ea filter are made at the same factory and have the same specs. Let cost and convenience be your guide.

The Amsoil filters are basically the same price ($17.20 Canadian) but there is a flat rate freight charge of $12.00. No problem if I buy several at a time but I didn't want to spend that much this time around so I drove up to Mopac and picked up two RP 10-48's. If there are no issues and I don't anticipate any I will order a half dozen Amsoil filters if they are made by the same company as the Royal Purple. I have about 1000 miles before my next oil change.
