LMAO, Friday after Thanksgiving, first official day of Christmas shopping. Stores have supposed big sales. All it is is an excuse for all the ass holes to get out there and confirm to everyone that they truly are ass holes.

You are 100% right. My wife works at Wally world so we pretty much know what's there from a day to day basis. I'd say 99% or better is specially shipped in for the sale, stuff not in store before or after sale, and junk, yes, bought a cheap waffle iron one time, sent for repair parts after first use, threw in trash after 2nd use.

I am creeping up to my next oil change and was looking to try the RP 10-48 but I can't seem to get one here for less than $45.00, yes you read that right, so I might give the Fram Ultra XG10060 a shot as I can get them for $15.99 at my local Canadian Tire. I believe it was in the top three in testing at the beginning of this thread. Anyone here using one and happy with them? I have avoided using Fram and their "orange can of death" most of my life so I am a little concerned.

I have used nothing but Fram filters in my 1997 1500 with the 5.9 engine since I bought it used with 48,000 miles on it back in 2000. It now has over 271,000+ miles on it and still has original never been touched engine. I also use just plain old Penzoil dinosaur oil. so nobody can tell me they are no good.
I don't know why some people think they must use only the latest, most expensive stuff out there.

a few years ago I went to one at walmart, there was so many people there it was like a rock concert. I dunno if they jacked up the heat, but that place was so hot I could barely breath. I honestly think there was so many people breathing it took up all the o2 in the place. I no longer even think about black friday, could care less to be honest.

You are conflating an issue with a result. Your strategy is a sound strategy as it is one probably based on price, and as it happens it worked out for you. It doesn't mean your choices are as good as others, just that the application they were used in happened to be very forgiving. Since the beginning of the oil forum to date, there is still no proof that your strategy versus others will yield in a longer lasting vehicle or a shorter lasting vehicle. Too many variables.

Your 5.9L 360 is a completely different motor than the 5.7L & 6.4L Hemi's Sir .
If you had one and it was a rattle trap ticking time bomb I'd say you'd be looking to quiet it down somehow .

I had a 97 Dodge 4x4 extended cab that I traded in on my 14 Ram in November of 13 . My 360 had over 275k at the time ( never been open either ) and that engine still ran strong . I miss that truck but I love my new Ram .

PYB is a great oil against the conventional oil field, PYB great against the group 3 field? PYB great against the ester/pao based field?? Once you make a decision to go synthetic because of the clean base oil, I don't know how you go back. As for fram ultra, likely one of the best choices anyone could make. I bought a case for the wife's car.

I had to think long and hard about using pup or pyb and any old filter, most likely wix. In the end I went with pup for the longer interval.

Let's see, I've used the same oil and filter combo on a '74 Chevy 4x4 with 200,000 plus miles, an '85 Chevy Suburban 4x4 with 215,000+ miles on it when I sold it, a 2000 Saturn that I still have with 292,000 miles on it and my current ride with 271,000+ miles.
I would say that is pretty consistent performance.
As for what weight oil I use, I used 10w30 until they got to about 200,000 then I switched to 10w40 because temps around here regularly reach 110+.

M1 oil filter product Alert!!

Was changing the oil on my gf Honda today and when I looked at the used oil filter I noticed part of an inner seal was broken and getting sucked into the filter. I've never seen an inner seal like this before, but after looking under the lip of the filter you can see it on the M1.

Filtration is huge, i say guys should just pop for fully synthetic. RP, Amsoil, Wix XP, or fram ultra at least.

Just a little added info:
2nd pic is the defective oil filter off the Honda, M1-110A. You can see a little gap were the seal was, you can also see part of the seal in the inlet hole of the filter. After looking at it a second time 90% of the seal was missing, got sucked into the filter media. Hopefully nothing made it through the by-pass valve. That's the bad news.
Good news is the M1-113A in the first pic does Not have this seal, and that's what I was worried about.
I'll be looking for this on every oil filter moving forward.
