Most guys on here know i run dual filters, and there's a reason i do and like them.Twice the filter volumn or more (i run the noticably bigger 30-8A filters) and less pressure drop, lol. The average oil pump is moving 5+ gallons of oil a minute at typical cruising speeds,so the 2 filter set-up allows more flow

The big Cummins motors we worked on had 5 oil filters and two fuel filters if memory serves.

Alot of semi's and farm tractors also run dual air-filters. My dad used to freak out if we ran the tractors anymore then a 100 hours on an oil and fliter change, along with cleaning /washing the air filters, lol. He always kept multiple air filters on hand so the washed ones had a few weeks to dry before being put back into service.I hated washing them damn air filters as a kid,but the old man would kick my ass if they were dirty, lol

machinelube pic a filter

My takeway from that is how important filtration is to longevity of an engine, more so then oil choice. So since there are so few options, what is gonna be better then spun MICRO glass for the hemi? I would suggest it would be easier to get a clump from the paper filter to break off then spun glass.
Great article and video Mike. The video was even better then the article in my opinion :waytogo:

The next sentence after the highlighted - Glass is resilient, especially when you are holding a quality product. However, these things are also fragile and cannot hold up forever.

Bottom line if you are gonna store filters, put some effort in storing them in ideal conditions, kinda like fine wine, lol.

But corey's issue was something else, we need to figure this out best we can imo. I will see about working with corey to maybe solve this, dunno.
Wonder what would happen if you filled them with oil and drained the excess off, prior to storing them in a ziploc baggy.I've also wondered about storing them in a vacumn sealed baggy .Just a couple of dumb-ass thoughts i have every once inawhile, lol

I mentioned vacuum sealing the other day and was told it was excessive lol, currently my extra filters are in freezer ziplocs with desiccant packs. Looking good so far.

I think if you had several extra oil filters on hand, that won't be used for a couple / several years, storing them in a vaccum sealed baggy wouldn't be a bad idea Daniel.Might not even hurt to fill them with oil and drain off the excess, before sealing them.
That's a test somebody needs to do,just won't be me,i don't have a vaccum sealing machine, and never seem to have enough filters on hand to store a few for several years, lol

Well, it is no longer twenty apparently I have used 4 since 2016, but there was zero rust on multiple sorces of these filters. I had a better crop but flkr couldnt find it, maybe I try again later and reload if I can. But since corey's had significant surface rust, perhaps that is an indicator. Had I found some rust, I was gonna sacrifice one of these, but they look good to me. The ones on the corners is simply shading from the light, hard to get puter flashlight and photo in sync, these are all pristine. I shoulda zoomed that flashlight out 6 inches, lol.

I know these store well, especially in temperature controlled place, but corey has me rethinking my storage habits. I would like to know how that happened, was it some warehouse that had large moisture problem or rp's manu champion labs? Tomorrow when it is brighter I want to write the different production dates now that corey was able to post that. I would hate to blame the manu if it was someone elses issue, but either way you would expect more reports out there, if it was storage I'm sure other guys would have that as well. They probably just used them w/o a thought. We should agree guys if there is significant outside rust, we need to sacrifice one?? Cost it open and pot results.

Summit the last place standing, although they committed usery and doubled the price. I do believe you can get them from RP direct. Who knows if they will ever make a comeback? Now, fram has a cousin filter now, but 6 holes instead of 8.
