I had the dealer change the oil in my truck for the first 25K miles of being new. First 2-3 changes were dino @ 3K, then switched to synthetic w/ 5K changes. Last year I changed the oil myself as the dealer I was using is no longer in business. I used the SRT filter and PUP 5w-20, using 7qt. Previously I rarely checked the oil level as when I did it was always in the safe lines/did not move.
I checked my oil a while back and noticed the oil was at the bottom of the "safe" line, I know when I changed it, it was at the top line. I was due for an oil change anyway (5k) so I I changed the oil, again using the SRT filter, PUP 5w-20 and 7qt. The oil was at the top line, maybe a hair over, it's been 1,000 miles and the oil is down a bit on the stick.
I need to check the oil catch can level to see what's in there, it does seem like its filling up more often than in the past since I have been changing my own oil.
Truck has 34,*** miles, no noises (not even the "tick"), runs great. No towing/hauling, just the occasional romp on the gas here and there.
My previous truck (08' PowerWagon) did not like mobil one synthetic at all. It too would be at or under the safe line by the time it was due for an oil change.
Is this a common thing for the Hemi running PUP/synthetic?
