I have a 99 ram 1500 with a 5.2. It has 122,000 miles. I had an accident in sept and took front end damage. Can't get hood open but I'm about to get it fixed. For about two weeks now when I hit the brakes the check gauge light comes on and the oil pressure gauge drops to 0. It picks back up in a couple secs. Other than the gauge you cant tell anything happened. Idle stays the same. Because I can't open the hood I can't check the oil. I'm about to get it in the shop but not sure if this could be a big problem or not. If it is I may cut my losses but I'd like to keep the truck. It runs great. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to give all the details. Thanks.

Sounds like you're just low on oil and the inertia cause by hitting the brakes is slinging the oil away from the pick up tube.

Thanks for the quick responses. I was hoping for something simple. Im taking it tomorrow to see if it's worth fixing.
