Is it possible for a few ounces of sea foam to wash out my engine after driving for about 200 miles then doing oil change.

Mechanic says I need to check my oil pump. Currently my heads are getting machined and having a horrible time busting loose the water pump fan to get deeper in the motor. He has also told me to drop my oil pan and check the piston bearings.

All in all I have a misfire on cylinder 2 and random misfire but valves did look like ****.

What does the cam look like???

I wouldn't run sea foam after getting motor work done.

For the fan, an air chisel works the best, and to be honest I would replace the water pump so you could take the fan/water pump off as an assembly (I think) to continue the teardown.

If the oil pump is in question, just replace it when the pan is off. I am guessing that he suspects damage to the motor (or at least wants to be sure that there isn't any) due to the condition of the heads.

REALLY look closely at your cam and lifters - 2014 was about one of the worst years for failure. Esp. on a motor that might have had questionable maintenance - again guessing due to your post.

Cam and lifters look perfect. Astonishingly to my surprise. Rockers and push rods in the other hand are a different story. Water pump will be getting replaced. I have already screwed up the pulley on it.

My mechanic is supposed to come by my house tomorrow to help with pulling the nut off the fan clutch. Fortunately he's cheap.

But what ate the odds of the oil pump being bad.

He's telling me everything that is wrong is because of the sea foam.

Oil pumps usually don't fail, but if it has a lot of miles and you are torn down it's much better to just replace it.
Seafoam not done correctly can absolutely ruin an engine.

If the cam looks perfect, I would seriously consider changing the lifter out while the heads are off - it's hard to see if there is any damage to the needle bearings in the rollers and it only take one damaged roller bearing to quickly trash a lot.

Yup, rods have bearings, not pistons

Sea foam only goes in the fuel tank, not in the crank case with a engine with miles on it, Its formulated to wash out all of the varnish and gum, that believe it of not by washing that out now you have a engine that will make more noise because the bearings and wrist pins have a lot higher tolerance in them meaning lower oil pressure and you might develop a knock.

P/S Old school put 1 qt of ATM to your oil after a oil change, so if your truck takes 7 qts of oil only put 6 qt in and the seventh ATM, leave it in there for 500-1000 miles dump it and do your normal oil change, Automatic Transmission is high in detergents and helps get ride of sludge and moisture.
