Comments such as "You're on your way to a bullet proof Hemi" peg my bull$hit meter.
Let’s be honest, any bullet proof claim is just a turn of phrase. Respectfully, I think anyone who isn’t nitpicking to just chime in knows this. Ford 6.0L bullet proof kits, 66/68RFE bullet proof kits, I could go on. Can the engine or transmission or whatever is “bullet proofed” still blow up? Absolutely. Is the term coined more as a remedy to known issues associated with premature failure that can prolong the life with adequate maintenance to a level that most would consider acceptable? I’d say so.

I wonder if there was native flute music playing in the background when the mechanic said the thing about a "Bulletproof" Hemi! ;)
To clarify, it wasn’t the mechanic that stated this as some sales pitch. It was me, in a neighbour to neighbour bull****ting session where I was talking him down from a ledge after he just bought the truck and was facing an 8K invoice to get it running again. Birds were chirping though, so that was kind of like a flute?

To be clear - he is not suicidal and was not on a literal ledge, as there seem to be some confusion here with metaphorical phrases.

To be clear: Please note the winky face!

Oh man, I missed the winky and assumed you had a “******** meter” to chime in with too, sorry! I appreciate the humour!
I play either Zen music or native flute music at 173 KHZ... it makes me totally calm and productive. It acts just like an anti-depressant...no drugs required!

You must have remarkable hearing to listen to 173 kHz.
In recent years, my high-end has started to roll off a bit lower than that.

The last guy who was calm and productive was Joe Montana, since then nobody is both calm and productive, pick one.

My wife gets frustrated with me in that I have difficulty understanding higher pitched voices mostly women/girls. She can hear a gnat fart at 100 yards!
BUT, I can hear the rumble of the Fedex /UPS/ USPS delivery trucks when they are on the next block!

After re looking at the home page of the music, it is 673 HZ, not 173. Did I mention myopia?:anitoof:

And 673 Hz instead of 173 kHz, does make a bit of difference.

Most of us are unlikely to hear 20 kHz anymore, let alone the female voices.
That's an acquired skill, called selective hearing.

Nope. I CAN actually hear in the high range, but tinnitus is so noisy that I seldom understand what got said. I attribute it to too many AC/DC concerts when I was younger!

I remember seeing AC/DC in Ottawa in the '70s, what a fantastic show.

I saw Our Lady Peace in the '90s at the same venue, and it was much louder.
Or, maybe it was only my ears that were distorting the sound.

I started wearing earplugs at concerts soon after that and was able to enjoy them much more.

I forgot to bring earplugs to a Green Day concert I saw last July. I stuffed Kleenex plugs into my ears instead, but that was mostly for the opening band, who were shrieking much too loudly.

Green Day was spectacular.

The ABSOLUTELY loudest concert I EVER attended was Pat Green at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo back in the '90s. My ears ached for a week afterwards.

Since then, I've only attended one concert.... George Strait on tickets we won on a radio call in. This was at NRG Stadium where the Houston Texans play NFL football. I wore earplugs, and was mighty glad I did so.

Working in a loud machine shop my first 3 years out of high school, and loud auto repair shops certainly did not help over the years.

I’m having same issue 2011 ram 1500. 168000 engine replaced at 95 k. Misfire cyl 6 plugs coils injectors all been changed swapped etc. visual under valve cover everything good..replaced mds solonoid for 6. Only misfires under 1000 rpms. Above everything good no misfires whether I let the mds activate or put it in tow haul.. so when you find anything it’ll probably be the same as me.. I will keep plugging away.

A visual inspection of the rocker arm range of motion will only work it it's so bad as to be visible to the naked eye. But, it typically has to be very, very bad to be causing a misfire. That there was no obvious issue tends to point to something else.

Does the engine tick @ idle, when fully warmed up?

Assuming that when you said "Plugs coils injectors all been changed swapped etc.", the results of that test was that the misfire stayed put, on cylinder 6? If so, that factors out non-mechanical variables.

Did you check the valve springs when you had the valve cover off? If not, then do it next, and immediately after do a compression test and a leak down test for #6. The test a couple more, to compare with #6.

Something to keep in mind, in case you have a broken valve spring. When the broken valve spring is an intake valve, it can leak hot combustion gasses back into the intake and torch a hole in the intake. If there is a broke intake spring, or a bent or sticky intake valve, inspect the manifold really well and replace if necessary.

Thank you will do that next and yes, I had already done a compression test. I had 160 in cylinder six 155 in cylinder seven and 170 and cylinder five I’ve been leaning towards small vacuum leak somewhere once it gets over 1000 it overcomes it. I bet mainly Chevy’s my whole life. I had a 2001 Dodge Dakota that I bought in 2003 and put 280,000 miles on it 14 years that truck never once let me down. I drove it to the junkyard. It was so rusted out I bought a 15 Silverado after that and I love the truck I put 160,000 on it but when I drove this ram, let me tell you I’m converted 100%. It’s the best truck I’ve ever had to go to snow. Oh my Lord I absolutely love this thing I want to find out what’s wrong with it. I’ve learned a lot about it in the last month.

I just thought of something driving home if MDS is active and my RPMs drop below 1000 and MDS is after actively on how can I get a misfire on a MDS cylinder? Isn’t it supposed to be shut off?
