This is the first truck I've had that will display the oil temperature. After the engine get up to temperature, I was just wondering what your oil temperature is? I'm seeing around 212-220 degrees.

That is where you want it to be. The oil needs to get warm enough to vaporize any moisture at a minimum. Mine usually sits in that same range unless I take short trips or am towing a heavy load.

I didn't think there was an issue, just more curiosity than anything.

oil is not like coolant, mostly coolant thermo opens at 203/4f and rarely will coolant be higher. Having the coolant thermostat at 203 keeps the general operating temp at that 212f you see on oil stat sheets. oil dissipates heat slower then coolant. at 230f for oil temp you should be concerned, at 250f you should idle a while and park it for a while. 250f is what most guys towing up the ikeman will see. You don't need to be at 212f to boil off water, as that is boiling temp for water, but it sure makes it easy. Water will still evap off with lesser temp, but it takes longer to do so.

Mine runs in those temps also, even when towing.

Yep - perfect. For water cooled engines. Air cooled engines run around 270F oil (OHV), and the old flat heads 330F oil. At full load.

That's why the old flat heads always had you change oil at short intervals.
