I have a 2016 1500 with a 3.6L v6 it currently has 140k miles. I have heard some people switch from 5w-20 to 5w-30 with high mileage vehicles. Any insight to this. Car has been reading 15-20psi when fully warmed up and idle and 35-50psi when between 1200-2000 RPM.

Okay. I was wondering if this was common to switch from 5w-20 to 5w-30 at mileage? Or it doesn’t really matter?

I'll be switching as soon as my supply of 5W-20 runs out. Here are some more opinions...

2017 ram 1500...I was on an interesting oil journey when I bought my used ram. It would periodically tick on start up which got worse as time went by and required the intake gasket replace, fortunately on warranty. I was using bulk 5/20 at the oil change place. After the gaskets it still ticked from time to time on start up. Changed to 5/20 synthetic which lessened the occurrence but didn't eliminate it. I changed to synthetic 5/30 with Lubeguard Biotech additive which has pretty much eliminated the issue. I was reluctant to go to a heavier oil as I live in central b.c. where winter temps can range -20 to -40 but there has been no noticeable issue other than a noticeable improvement in operation particularly on highway and no tick. I highly recommend the Lubeguard which makes a noticeable difference....unfortunately in Canada it's about 30 bucks cdn but I don't drive much and only do 2 oil changes a year so it's doable.

I switched from PUP 5W20 to PUP 5W30 last year or the year before.

The temperatures here are anywhere from -30⁰F to 100⁰F+.

I've not experienced any problems starting in colder weather and the oil pressure is now about 30 PSI at idle and 50+ PSI on the highway. Up about 4 or 5 PSI.

My '21 Warlock only has 44K miles and I've been using LubeGard Biotech every winter since about the second year of ownership.

Last summer I bought 5 bottles of LubeGard and now use it with every oil change, summer and winter.

Check out the LubeGard thread and decide for yourself.
