Hey guys,

What weight of synthetic oil do you guys recommend for a supercharged Hemi with 10,000 miles on it? I've heard mentionings on here of 0w-40 and 5w-30 so far, but not sure which would be better for my application.

Thanks

Xw20 or Xw30, there's no reason to go to a higher weight unless you're trying to fix a specific problem. I run 5w30 in mine because the MDS is removed and I had seepage issues that the higher weight cured which might have actually been a crankcase vacuum issue. For yours as a daily driver just stick with the 5w20 but use a good synthetic oil and quality filter and you'll be in good shape.

0w40 been running it since before Mopar 6.4s swapped to it which is a blessing and got me off the once only brand Rotella, now it's avail in Mobil one. Danny

I have MDS disabled as well, so I guess 5w30 would be good. I just don't want to go too thick to the point of causing issues.

I have mds disabled, but I use 5w20. Should I switch to 5w30?

There' a difference between disabled and physically removed. Unless you've swapped out the MDS lifters for the non-MDS lifters just stick with the 5w20.

Gamester: I agree with Charon on the 30wt.

One thing to remember every 0W oil will be a {So Called} synthetic.

With you being INTO the pedal more then the normal daily driver. I would not advise a 20wt. It is fine for the daily driver driven civilized.

One thing I have noticed over they many years-->The 20wt oils have NEVER been proven {Acutal Proven Data} to provide BETTER or LOWER wear numbers compared to a 30wt or 40wt. Only some what better MPG numbers for the daily driver. Even the UOA within BITOG has proven this.

For the Daily Driver which is driven sensible & never pushed or worked hard-->The 20Wt is the perfect fit. JMHO!

MDS scare tactics by ram are ********, the mds will work perfect with 5-30 or even a 40, its been proven many times by guys running it many thousands of miles. So in a supper charged motor 5-30 will do fine just buy the best you can find.
