No problem. No issues running either during the winter. I run 5w30 year round, but I live in AZ, so my winters are not the norm. When I lived in WA, I ran both weights and the engine ran fine (confirmed by oil analysis).

A better question would be which oil to use 0w20 or 0w30 if you are worried about the cold. However, the most important thing to add is your location, as in a little more refined then the US. If it is a 2014 and has average miles, imo the likely answer to the question is 0w30 regardless of the location. Look for dexos specs along with merc and porsche, usually means the stay in grade component requires some pao base oils. Look at pennzoil's Platinum Euro LX 0W-30 has one of the highest viscosity index's I have ever seen at 204, doesn't have dexos though. If you want to find something easy and local just look for 0w30 dexos. The fact that it is 0w30 means it will be synthetic, I know of no 0w30's that aren't synthetic, maybe they exist but I haven't seen one.

Once in a while maybe we wont berate someone with an honest oil question.

Hmm, i when the other directions in 2006. I moved back to the Spokane WA area from Tucson AZ. But, when i comes to oil, I've always followed the owners manual. I feel like everybody I know that tries to out think there prospective manufacturers oil recommendation always has the same ownership experience as the people who paid went to Jiffy Lube, one that they carefully chose and actually pay attention to that is.

Simple answer in colder winter weather being in the Northeast with temps going below O degrees, I use a 0w20w or 0w30, In the warmer months I stick with 5w30w full synthetic and use Lubegard Bio tech for the Moly content and a good oil filter like Royal Purple 20 -500 synthetic media filter.
