Opening tail gate

Is there any way of altering the tail gate so it will drop slowly instead of falling rapidly? 2016 1500 laramie

Release the latch with the provided handle and support the weight of the tailgate with your hand while slowly lowering it to the fully open position.

OK, now I feel like I also need to state "Go with the DZ".

My dad had a Ram without a DZ and I went to open the gait one day and forgot. Bam. He now has a DZ courtesy of me.
