Hello all. I changed fuel filters on my 2017 2500 Cummins.
Took it for a test drive and the check engine light came on and power dropped off considerably. It won’t go over 40 mph.
P0087 is “low pressure in fuel rail”.
Possible cause is fuel pump going out.
Is it just a coincidence that replacing filters and fuel pump failure happened almost simultaneously?
I’ve changed fuel filters many times. It’s not rocket science.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

I had the same issue. Dealer replaced fuel injector pump. Then an egt sensor issue and had truck towed. Got that fixed then another p0087 code and dealer said the fuel lift pump was bad. Drove it for 3 days and the p0087 code came on again. Truck would not hardly pull itself. Took it back to dealer and traded it in on a Chevy 2500 durimax. Much better truck. I liked the ram but after spending $4,000 in repairs in 30 days thought it was time to move on. The ram only had 57,000 miles. Will never own another one.
