2014 ram 1500 4x4 3.6. I'm getting a p0480 code. I've checked power and ground at connector their both good. I'm unsure how to check the signal wire. it shows 2.2v when fan is off and when fan is turned on with bidirectional scan tool signal goes to ground but fan doesn't come on. The fan will run if a/c is turned on. I tried swaping the fan with another used one but some issue. Looks like the relay is inside the tipm. Is there any way to test relays?

It's a PWM fan if that helps. I'm not sure if it has a relay but I did get pretty into the cooling system stuff in this thread. Sorry my buffers are full and don't remember if I discussed anything that will help you directly.

Thanks for the link! There is some good info in that post. I'm leaning toward a problem with tipm. i would like to check signal with oscilloscope before buying a reman one.

You ill get that code I think if the fan was unplugged. If it's kicking on with A/C are you sure it's not just a stored code? The 3.6L doesn't even turn on the fan until it reaches a 228 degree coolant temp.

I cleared code it came back. Also fan will not come on when commanded with bi-directional scan tool.

Mine won't either but it does come on with the vehicle when commanded by it. Both the original and a brand new replacement. Just trying to save you from getting a new fan like me. The best test (besides turning on A/C). Is to get the vehicle up to 228 and see if it kicks on then turns off again ~219.
