I have a 2021 1500 Bighorn Quad, 4wd..... Monday evening a juvenile Sand Hill Crane took off from the shoulder of the road.... He was heading straight toward my windshield.... I really did not want to take a BIG bird to the windshield at 60mph. The oncoming lane was clear so I swerved left and he clipped passenger side outside rear view mirror.

the turn signal still works but he cracked the lens and there is a hole about the size of a fifty cent piece .... air rushing in makes a somewhat maddening whistling sound.

I have the power folding windows. I got online and ordered a replacement part from one of the MOPAR oem retailers. I ended up calling to verify we were on the correct part for my VIN....

Part came in this morning. My usual mechanic said he might be able to do it but he did not want to experiment with my new truck.
So I bopped on down to the local dodge dealer...... Not the one I bought the truck from.

They told me..... The part was not replaceable..... That I had to replace the entire review mirror... So I said..... There are like 10 or so individual part numbers available for components on each outside mirror.... So you mean if I crack my mirror glass or a bulb burns out I have to replace the entire mirror unit?

There are two screws and a plug on this thing...

Anyone got any decent youtube video instructions of how to disassemble the mirror housing?

If you only have a single glass mirror & you don't have TOW mirrors

I don't know if door mirrors have changed much since 2009

I took a passenger side mirror apart, i hit a stop sign with it

This is just the mirror glass
The Parts Dept. has them in stock
They also have the lights that fit into the mirror housing

sorry the images are oversized

I suggest that you use some gloves, so that you don't cut yourself on the glass

****************

First of all, power tilt the mirror downwards, as if you wanted to see the top of your rear tire
Now take 2 fingers of both hands & pinch the top of the mirror, thumbs on the mirror face & fingers between the back of the mirror face & the mirror housing.
Now give your fingers a slight tug towards your chest, you are only trying to cause the top 2 plastic clips to release, if they did not release tug just a bit harder.
When the top 2 clips release, look behind the mirror face to see how the mirror parts fit together.
Now gently tilt the mirror glass out just a bit & lift it up as you wiggle the mirror glass. That will lift it out of the lower 2 clips

Now you should only have some wires to unclip
Don't toss the metal fingers, you will need them for the new mirror

The parts that you can't buy in the dealerships Parts Dept.
You can get off of a donor car

Disregard - I have 2019 Ram 1500 Classic, and it has a different side mirror clamping method. If anyone is in the same boat as me, I found two videos on YouTube which show the version I have and how they removed the glass. I have yet to do this, though. I'll give it a try soon.

I think I will try this Screwdriver Method around 51 second mark.
Also, I think this guy is referring to this same video. He goes more in depth about the process. I think I will definitely try this method. A 2nd Screwdriver Video
