Depending on your options about 1500 lbs, +/- 200 lbs. Payload and towing are drastically affected by our extremely soft springs. The back sags with very little effort.

That's bothersome. I guess I made a mistake by assuming a 2500 could do at least 3k.

I guess I just paid a ton for a 1500.

It’s a rock crawler, it’s a purpose built truck. The rear coil springs are the biggest limitation on payload. Are you trying to put a camper on it? That’s what I was considered but basically squashed it. Here is another link that you should check out:

Thanks, guys. I'm coming from a F250 which can do quite a bit more when it comes to 'workload.' Being able to put 3500lbs in the back of the F250 was really nice, but in the end I didnt do it more than 4-5 times in the 2 years I had the f250. If that workload is needed, I can put that stuff on a trailer. I was super bummed when I double-checked the payload specs and found it was much less than other 2500s. Of course, that was after I bought it...

In the end this truck is going to be awesome. It met my absolute 3 requirements for a truck: 4x4, crew cab, 6.5' bed. The added payload capacity wouldve been nice, but I'm totally good with the capabilities that this truck comes with. Its also a sweet ride.

I look forward to spending time on this forum and having fun with this truck. Thanks for the links & the info that you guys put in this thread!!

Bag it. Throw some better load rateed tires on it and roll with it. That’ll trigger the payload police but seriously. It’s a 2500. I went the other route. I have a 2500 cclb and put thuren on it for off-roading. The truck will handle what you throw at it for sure

The power wagon may be on a 2500 chassis but it's certainly not a 2500 when you look at the towing and capacity specs. It's marketed as a off road specific truck and not made for hauling or towing. Had you bought a regular 2500 (depending on how it was equipped) you would have been fine.

The Airlifter 5k brings my payload up to 5k?!

I don't need 5k, but I'll take more than 1600. Looks like a fairly easy install...

Yes, you essentially have a 1 ton pickup/drivetrain with heavy half ton suspension.

Add some bags if you tow heavy or put a lot of weight in the bed. Heres a writeup I did when I put them under mine....

I want to pull a camper that is 10k and the bags seem like the best option for me. Since I’m installing onboard air anyway. The write up by Olyelr, is perfect.
If you don’t off road, then change the rear springs and you will back to hauling heavy loads again.

No matter what you do the payload will not change. It may be more capable but it won't change the factory rating or legality at all. My 2018 2500 Outdoorsman Off-Road CCSB has a 2970ish payload. I liked the Power Wagon but when I found out the payload I knew it wouldn't work for me.

It's not going to give you a 5K payload but will increase it considerably<as the Payload Police gasp>. Look at the VIN tag in your driver door for the GAWR and GVWR, those are the numbers you don't really exceed. Your PowerWagon is much more capable than a 1/2 ton.

Depends on how you look at it. If you are the payload police, then no. My ‘17 half ton big horn has more payload than my ‘16 power wagon laramie.

The only thing the yellow payload sticker is good for, is putting over the mouth of the payload police...lol
A PowerWagon still has a rear GAWR of 2000 lbs more than half ton.

If it’s the sticker your worried about, PM me and I will hook you up. On my next trip to the parts yard, I will collect a few off some trucks. Want a sticker of a 3500? No problem. ;)
