Mine always gives a description of what the update was for on the paperwork the dealer give you for the service. It could be a lot of different things depending on when the last time you were at the dealership.

You should ask the dealer that question. PCM updates can range from safety to performance reasons and you have the right to refuse the update (except for safety updates).

Why refuse? For example, a 2016 update (TSB 18-078-16, 07/20/16) changed shift points to preclude engine lugging. This supposedly resulted in a mpg decrease. Thus, some owners refused that update.
