Looking to get both eventually or should I only consider one or the other? I know a lot of guys run both. The truck will never see the track and I'm not racing it. I don't drive it a lot maybe 5k miles a year (drive company vehicle to and from work). I know all about the Diablo i3 as of right now I really don't want to mess with the pcm. That's why I'm considering the pulsar with hopes that down the road they come out with the custom tunes then maybe I'll mess with the pcm. I just want something fun to drive when I want to step on the gas and go but at the same time when the wife has to drive it for something that its not too much for her to drive. Should I just run the pedal commander first or get the pulsar first? Anyone with experience I'd appreciate it.

I have the pedal commander BT on mine. Easy to install, takes 5 min, and has numerous adjustments depending on what you want to do when you drive your Ram. Nick at Got Exhaust is a preferred vendor and will send you a price if interested.

Good luck either way.

I would say custom tune, but if you want a cheap Pulsar with the 1st generation programming I'm going to put mine up for sale soon. I also run a PC, but honestly I find that it's more of a personal preference where it's best to set it. With the Pulsar on level 8 city -4 was where I preferred it to keep it from being jumpy as hell and on level 6 I would turn it up to City +4 or even Sport without the jumpiness.

Id go tuner with tune over a setup that only fools the computer to add input percentage to make you think its faster low down when its not.

Pedal Commander, if you want to chance losing warranty and add more power, Pulsar, adding better peddle feel, Pedal Commander.

Can you update it to the newest software? I know you just need the cable. I know custom tube would be the best way to go especially to get rid of the mds I just hate to mess with the pcm since I'm not really racing it or taking it to the track just want something with a little bit of power when I need it. The whole idea of datalogging and downloading the tune and then loading it on to the vehicle just seems like a pain in the ass and I really don't want to mess something up. Then if I ever want to trade it in I have to turn it back to stock. With the pulsar it'll just be unplugging everything and I'm good to go. Unless they eventually come out with custom tunes then that could change things a little bit. Thanks everyone so far for their input.

Yea it can be updated, but I never bought the cable for it since its a proprietary Holley EFI interface that I'd have no other use for. I know edge will also update them if you mail it back in, but that seems troublesome. Not sure why I even bothered with the Pulsar I guess it was more curiosity than anything else.

Op:
I think it’s more of a question for what you want...
PC will change the way the power you have drives from what I’ve gathered.

Pulsar will add a little power and also does some throttle sensitivity/input changes although not as well as PC does.

I am in a similar situation. My truck is my daily driver. I also have the lifetime warranty. Therefore the PC and Pulsar combo fits my needs and will likely be the route I go. Will likely do it when I get bigger tires so I re-cal speedo at the same time. I don’t think that pulsar will add more power or be more custom than a custom tune but I also am ok with that.

bfill, if you get bigger tires, a Rough Country speed calibrator works perfect.

I have both.
Started with pc then got pulsar. I too was concerned
For added fun since you dont drive alot get the pedal commander first. It changes throttle sensitivity in a great way and super easy to install!
The pulsar adds hp that you can feel changing from 6 to 8 on the fly.
Together they are a GREAT combo

Thanks for the info. I would like some extra power and like the tune on the fly ability. But if I change my mind I’ll look into that rough country calibrator

True, the PC does not have any effect on the performance, HP, torque etc. It does however have a huge impact on how you can use your power. It dramatically changes your throttle response in any situation. Whether passing at highway speeds or from a stoplight...If you line up 2 equal Rams and drop the light, the one with the PC will win. It lessens pedal lag and slop and makes the Ram angry....

I was just on the pulsar site, I am considering a PC.... and not really sure what the edge pulsar does that PC doesn’t? Other than the opportunity to update your tire size?

The pulsar will actually give you more horsepower depending on which setting you have it on. Where the pedal cammander just adjust your throttle response to get the lag out of the pedal

“Up to” 30HP gain, for $500 (current price) on their site. Money buys horsepower, but is 30HP worth it for $500?

Depends on ur situation. Custom tuning can be done for a little more and yield more power and tweaking ability.

However it seems for those who are wanting to keep their warranty (original or even lifetime) the 30hp for 500 is where the can tune without traceability that it was tuned.

Also have to consider what your mod list may look like... mild mods like CAI and exhaust, even TB the pulsar seems to make people happy.

If you are planning LTs, cam, NO2, are bigger/wilder mods than custom tuning is where you should be and not the pulsar.

This is all what I have put together from reading threads and chatting with pulsar owners.
