I'm wondering if anybody has modified their v6 engines. I know it can be tweaked with a chip because my Grand Caravan had the same engine but only 283 bhp and my new truck has 305 bhp, different chip. Any ideas?

Different programming is what achieves different levels of HP and torque from the factory and aftermarket tuners these days. I don't know if any one is making tuners for the V6 but you could start by calling Superchips or comparable. I doubt anything other than that will show much results but there is always CAI and exhaust.

There is no tuning available for any of the 2015 Ram trucks at the moment, regardless of the motor.

It's interesting that Diablo does tuning for the V6. I thought if anyone did maybe Superchips would and noone else would bother. I guess that would be the best option when they start offering 2015 tuning. Is there a difference for 2015 that the tuner isn't compatible yet or is this something that happens with every model year?

I'm kinda interested in answers to this too. Not doing anything right away, but when I've got the money, maybe.

Dodge runs the Pentastar in pretty much every vehicle they make, not the Dart, but most of them. In the Charger and 300 you can option and intake/exhaust and get an 8 HP gain. Not a lot, but it's something, and a proven 8 HP. You could throw the same on, there are many choices to go with. Add a tuner when it hits the market and I don't see why togeather you can't gain 20-25 HP total.

Different intakes as well.

NEVER!!!

I have a 2015 Laramie, 4x4, quad cab with the pentastar and 3.55 gears and I love it. I would've opted for the Hemi if I wanted LESS payload (not my statement but Ram's - look up the payload ratings on the Ram payload calculator) or poorer gas mileage or wanted to pay more (purchase price and gas cost at the pump).

For the OVERALL value (power, acceleration, mileage, payload, towing - up to 7,000 lbs., and purchase cost) - the pentastar with the 3.55 gears is THE BEST overall drive train in the truck market today, bar none - better than Ford's 2.7L, better than Chevy/GMC!

Says whatever you have to say to justify yourself, if you want to say compared to the hemi it is better in some ways sure, but against ford's 2.7 you are losing the payload fight, hp and torque fight where the pentastar seriously lacks, and you are about the same mileage wise.
The pentastar is a great motor, but it isn't in the same class as ford's EcoBoost, it is a competitor to their 3.5 and gm's 4.3.

Your truck is rated for 7450 towing pounds, they don't even make the 3.55 gear in their top models because it is such a junky gear, but the 3.21 your model laramie rated 8150 pounds, and the 3.55 gear in the tradesman Hemi your year is 8950. Only difference is the engine for these numbers, same gear or lesser gear and you can still tow with more with the Hemi. And I have the same 3.55 gear and I hate it because I have had a chance to drive the 3.92, huge difference and same mileage if you consider the horrible shift points that waste gas.

Yes your engine is fine and dandy looks nice on Wards list, but if you bring the word performance in the conversation, just pass on making any argument because you will loose. You would need massive massive upgrades just to get to stock HP of a Hemi.

I wasn't trying to **** on your thread, I was actually being serious. Test drive a Hemi with a 3.92 gear and you will see that your truck just isn't going to get there performance wise. But, if I was you and I wanted to jump of the line a little bit, I would look at swapping gears to a 3.92. You will also be in a better RPM range for power on the highway. Right now if you are at 2500 at 60mph you would be near 2900 at 60mph, just a guesstamate because I don't have a v6, but you get what I'm saying. If you don't have a 4x4 it is even easier cause you just need to swap one gear. If you ever choose bigger tires or MT, or even AT's, the gear will really help you as well.

The second I saw the thread title I knew someone would have to make the "get a HEMI" comment. The V6 does have it's place for sure. Sounds like everyone who buys one is very happy with it too. If you're a lighter driver that needs a truck for the occasional light load..? V6 FTW. And yes you'll drive by twice as many gas stations as us HEMI owners. But to say it's the BEST all around drivetrain? I dunno man. Askin for a flaming lol

That said.. there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to mod ur truck no matter what engine is in it. That's why this forum exists.

Diesels are only 6ers, so I guess you all have that going for you. But, HEMI will always be better. Since the beginning of time, they have just been way cooler and the badassery is unmatched.

I don't think anyone said "make it as fast as a HEMI", just "where are the upgrades?"

Of course it's not going to be as fast as a HEMI. But if we'd wanted HEMIs, we'd have bought them. I'm just looking for a little more zip to go with my 25mpg. :)
