Using the search function I see Hemi’s reporting MPG’s as high as my 3.6 pentastar. I show 20 mpg currently with mostly highway driving at 70mph.

Yeah a hemi can see 20 mpg and maybe a bit more with that type of driving. I would think you could do better on the hwy. 25 mpg or so.

65-70 is the sweet spot. I don't know about hitting 25mpg though, maybe at 55mph. The thing that hurts is the highway with a head wind. It won't come out of 7th gear at 75mph so you see it slowly drop. Most all of my miles are highway so it's pretty noticeable.

I sought out and bought the 3.6 for the fuel mileage. I’m showing 20mpg on my dash right now. Sounds like I should’ve just got the Hemi. I set cruise at 71 on highway.

My Penastar get a a avg. 20/21 MPG around town, (rural so only a couple lights ) Hwy 70/75 I am still around 20/21MPG, I have also read that the HEMI runs close to the V6 as well! But from what I read at tuneup time and 16 plugs the V6 will not take a arm or leg :O SO far I am real happy with my V6 for what I do :)

I’m very happy with mine. I just thought I’d see better mileage than what the 8’s are getting. I don’t tow with this truck and drive 400 highway miles a week. It does all I ask it to do and a little more. I drove both before buying. If I towed with it that may have changed my mind.

I average around 20/21 with mine and got as high as 23 once on all highway driving. I agree I was hoping for a 22/23 average but it's not quite there but I am still happy with it since I don't tow or do anything a V8 is really needed for.

Don't get me wrong... I really love this truck and love the motor. I will admit that I naively bought into the fuel economy hype and thought I would be consistently running higher numbers without changing my driving style. Had I known then what I know now, I would have got the Hemi which was only about $1000 more for the same truck.

I got over 23mpg in my truck once but that was on a flat highway with no traffic or head wind. On average I get around 18 on the highway and 15 around town. I have the 6 speed tho. The 8 speed 3.21 trucks will get 20mpg on the highway with ease.

I've only put about 100mi on my new to me 2017, with the 3.6L, 8spd, 3.21 rear and 17" steelies, but I've managed 23.8mpg average per the dash with mixed driving.

The truck has 12300mi total on the ticker.

my 2013 3.6 8spd will get 25 on straight hwy all day long, normal 50/50 is around 22-24 and with 75% city i get around 21.

my 2014 hemi 8spd got 22-23 at best on highway at same speeds, 50/50 was 21 at best and 75% city was around 18-19

this weekend my 2018 2500 6.4 hemi 6spd auto got on average 18-19mpg with the cruise on 70 and got around 15-16 with 75% in town...

for me the 3.6 gets a good amount better than my 5.7 in my 14 did, and my 3.6 gets the better gas milage much easier than my 5.7 did, driving 500+ miles a week for work i really enjoy the 3.6 for fuel economy

this was two days ago on my way home from work and doing anywhere from 65-75mph on non flat highway

cda2413f11b11c9aac9211169d961045.jpg

which is why i love my 3.6, the lowest i see my average ever with my normal commute is 23 and thats when i hit those terrible traffic days...

ill add that a headwind will play hell on my mileage too

I recently swapped to 20’s from 17’s and had the dealer flash the truck for the new wheels. I actually gained 1mpg from 19.5 to 20.5. I drive mostly highway. It doesn’t seem like there is that much a gain by going v6 VS v8. Although maintenance and added insurance savings may put v6’s a head over lifetime.

Larger diam. wheels are going to get you better MPG on the highway. Tire size/weight and tread pattern can also make a big difference on MPG.

If you guys actually believe the lie-o-meter on the dash, I have a bridge for sale.

When I was out west, my truck got mpg that I NEVER see in humid, 550 ft above sea level, southern Indiana.

My truck has gotten 21.5 a couple of times, around here. Hand calculated, btw. All that means is that I caught a tailwind.

The Mustang gets over 30 mpg, if I put a little bit of effort into it. It has 392 hp at the rear wheels. I have that mpg thing covered. I enjoy my truck much more if I'm not trying to get an extra .5-1 mpg. I have a Pentastar in the Wrangler, Hemi in the truck. Both great engines!

Mpg threads are a lot like Facebook. Everybody posts their best moment. But that isn't how life is.

LOL, Wait now hold up, you claim you cant trust the truck to calculate accurate mpg, then claim a 400 rwhp crowd killer gets over 30mpg?

Brand new v6 mustang can't even pull 30 and that's at 300hp, so somehow you added another 100hp and GAINED a few mpg's? Sounds like you should trust the meter more then your math7a6b08710fd7a0273d7180ce91e0b1dc.jpg

I average 21.1 mpg with cruise control set to 5mph over the speed limit, from Northern VA to Nashville TN both ways in my Hemi @ 87 octane. I average 19.6 mpg to Orlando Fl both ways. Around town I average 14.3.

On 93 octane I’m averaging about 18.7 on the highway at 65-70 mph. I haven’t been able to get numbers for towing yet
