Has anyone ever had problems with Plasti dipping? I am curious because I am getting mixed reviews about it but it's an awesome and cheap way to change the looks of your truck.

I have heard of it peeling sometimes but I think if you do it properly and follow the directions you shouldn't have many problems. I like it because if it starts to chip off or you decide you want a change you can remove it relatively easy. I dipped my badges before I removed them completely and never had any complaints.

Ok because I am really considering doing the entire truck in Plasti dip to look totally different. The front grill I want to do in red, the truck in white, and the rims in white with the dodge ram in red. They have entire kits for the truck and I think I would stand out with this.

It's just like anything else, if you ask online, you're gonna find a group of people that love it and the rest hate it...I for one, hate the stuff, and it will never be seen on my truck. Sure, it can be useful for seeing how something would look blacked out, but I have a saying...

"it's either paint or it aint"...

But, to each his own, I will never knock someone for using it.

i'd stick to your actual paint for the white, plasti dip looks best for accent colors and rims.

Ok so just do the rims and the front grill then. the reason I wanted to do the body is so that the scratches that are on there won't be visible any more =\

I'll look into that. Some are deep as this truck use to be a work truck. There's also some spots where there's no paint at all which is why I thought of plasti dipping the whole thing

yeah, mine is like that, that's why i'm going with the ram runner look, get new bed side, and you also get a bad ass truck in the process.

but yeah, adam's or meguiars or how ever you spell it, are really good about getting scratches not that noticeable.

I just watched a youtube video of the ram runner vrs the ford raptor...the raptor beat the ram runner in everything but in the high speed part...I guess the RAM had too much steering and didn't feel right or something of that nature.

Yeah I definatly can't wait to get some more money though. I think it would turn out nice if I plasti the rims white with the ram logo red and do the front bumper in red. Usually I am a black and red type of guy but I am moving back to Texas soon and white DOES reflect some of the heat.

it's also all after market for the dodge, the ford is treated just like every other production truck. but i'm not really too concerned about racing people off road, but i think that'll look good.

Yeah they do have a sick look to them. Way better than the raptor..Yeah I wouldn't mind having a raptor but I think the dodge is way beter.

I need to find a mudding buddy for here in Colorado Springs...I want to, as Mr. Brad Paisley says, "Get a little mud on the tires"

I am not sure if I want to lvl the thing out or get an actual lift. I like the look of a lifted truck because of the ground clearance. Unfortunatly I am on limited funds being in the military =\

I dipped my wheels, front and rear bumpers, and grill housing. I LOVE the result, but I plan to powder coat down the road. Dip is great but not permanent. It will last a while if done correctly and you prepped the area. I always hear...a great paint job is defined on how well you prepped...well, something along those lines lol. Best part is...if you don't like the result, or if you happen to come across a peel or tear...peel it off and respray...or you can actually repair the area. Though temporary, its a cheap alternative to a paint job and an easy way to improve the look of your ride. Check out dipyourcar.com...they have tons of how-to vids.

I did my entire truck because a new paint job is more than the truck's worth, it covers up the horrible paint excellent. Cost me like $250 to do the entire thing, and it's been raining non stop and it holds up great. Hope to maybe get some John deer black on there when I get time, but for now it's a good cover up.
