I pulled the engine out of my 2007 megcab hemi non-mds after finding metal in the last oil change. Dropped engine off at machine shop and turns out my cam bearings were "shot". I had the machine shop install new piston rings, all new bearings, timing kit, camshaft, hone cylinders, resurface the heads, valve seals, and valve springs. After assembling and installing the engine, there was no compression in any cylinder. I called the machine shop and they had me try various things without any luck. They finally told me to back out the rocker arm bolts a bit at a time to see if I gained any compression and I was starting to. I was curious and pulled the head on passenger side after this and discovered all four intake valves were contacting the pistons. Machine shop asked how I assembled the motor and the guy in charge stated I should have never soaked my lifters because now they're pumped up and not allowing the valves to close or I ordered the wrong push rods, (which they are not because I compared them to the stock one I already had and I did not mix up exhaust and intake rods either). This is my first time pulling and installing an engine, but if the machinist was correct wouldn't the exhaust valves also hit the pistons? I'm thinking its a timing issue but he disagrees. Any ideas or input????

First off not soaking the liffters is pure BS I always soak lifters before install are you 100% sure you didnt install the push rods wrong? Intake and exhaust are diff sizes aswell as the rockers one has a stamp on it for intake, I would also ask the machine shop if they machines the cylinder heads at all if so how much. Your timing could also be off did you set it or they set it? you may have bent valves.

That is false information. You did well soaking the lifters. If I was a betting man, and I'm not, I would say that the machine shop messed something up and now it's going to be a headache to get them to do the right thing.

Thanks for the response. Yes Im 100% sure the push rods and rockers are installed correctly. They did resurface the heads and they claim it was minimal and not enough to affect pushrod lengths. I had them set timing, install all bearings, camshaft, and piston rings. I ended up pulling the motor and dropping it off so they can determine what went wrong but that was 3 weeks ago now.....
