2011 2500 with a 5.7
Got a Po301 code so tried spark plugs then switch coils and checked injectors.
Took off valve cover and confirmed valve on the number 1 cylinder wasn’t moving.
What should be my next step?

If the valve on cylinder 1 is not moving its time for camshaft/lifters you gotta tear the cylinder heads off ect how many miles on the truck?

stock 5.7 with 6.4l cam and MDS delete
rockauto.com would be my friend!
get a 392(6.4L) cam from like a same year charger or something. better performance and are cheaper than the 5.7L cams.
usually will have a plastic timing chain tensioner - try to replace it with a steel one if you can.(while your there anyway)
whether or not you eliminate MDS at this point is up to you.
If you do then youll need the non-MDS lifters, cam and tuner.
If not then youll need the MDS lifters and MDS cam.
I would replace all lifters as these wear together.
youll need a top end gasket set- head gaskets, valve cover gaskets, intake gasket and front cover (timing chain cover) gasket.

I did this to my 2012 5.7 and it ran roughly 600 from rock auto for everything except the tuner because i eliminated the MDS. spent roughly 400 on a tuner to turn off MDS and update the tune.

So roughly 1000 for the whole thing and i did it myself.

Hope this helps

Would I use the 6.4 challenger cam with the 5.7 lifters? Which tuner would I need?
If you're doing the 6.4 non-mds cam (manual transmission cam) you'll want a set of the MDS plugs. Ma Mopar also sells them.

Why number 1 so clean ?
Blown head gasket probably.Leaks coolant into that cylinder,it doesn't fire and the coolant will eventually wash the carbon deposits away.Might be worth while taking the heads to a machine shop and having them checked over for warpage, and resurfaced if they are warped.

If a lifter is trashed, better check the camshaft as well. Also check for metal shavings in the oil control valve, too.
