If it isn't broke, don't fix it. Why use a 10 dollar a quart oil if you don't have too? With the results at ram forum you can even get an oil soluble molybdenum additive that will give you some insurance against hemi tick without the cost, lubegard biotech = poor mans redline.
Its what is already in it lol. I was very impressed with the transmission fluid and how it made it feel. I am with you dont fix something that isn't broke. I just can get redline at summit for about the same price as Castrol. It always worries me as its gone 80k with no more tick using Castrol edge.

Im using pp euro 5w40 in the new truck. It is very smooth and quiet. Never had a check engine.
Tried a bunch of pennzoil in the last (2006) hemi. 5w30 10w30 0w30 and 5w40. never had any check engines and the mds worked perfectly. in fact for mds operation the 0w30 made it come on line earlier after start up.
had alot of burn off with the fuel economy oils in the 06. thats what got me onto the thicker euro oils.
the new truck doesnt burn off oil at all which is nice.
I have a decent stash of pennzoil from before covid when they were almost giving it away with the mail in rebates and in store (Canadian tire) discounts. it was like 15 dollars per 5 litres. good times.
I only buy oil on sale if not the prices are stupid up here...

74 for redline
56 so less then 20 dollars difference.

@Travis8352 I go to advanced auto and buy their on sale package. Its a 5 gallon jug and then I get ripped off per quart lol. Its still cheaper then buying 7 quarts by themselves.I just did some math on it. Not awful in price difference.

Try oreilly if you have one. They price match walmart so i dont have to go there lol
Advanced actually has a good bundle right now. Just add 20 to it and its an oil change. I usually eat the extra cost to run the puralator boss filter.

If you believe Redline is the way to go, but want to "experiment" with other stuff because RL is too pricey; well for less than the cost of filling your tank once, you can get Redline instead of Brand X, so why stress out about it? Most people get 6 months out of an oil change anyway so it's kind of negligible though I do understand and feel the cringe when buying RL. Just have to keep it all in perspective.
