Hello, I have recently changed both my heater core and my evaporator core about 6 months ago. I changed both since the heater core clogged and the dash had to be dropped to access it. I had hoped that by doing so, I would see an improvement in air velocity from my air vents. However, this was not the case. My velocity is so poor that I have to close all vents in the truck except the two drivers vents to really feel any air worth a damn. Any real proven suggestions would be very much appreciated!! And yes, I have changed my cabin air filter faithfully about every 2-3 months when it is time to change fuel filters and breather filters.

this sounds like a blower issue or a Blend door issue When you select floor or dash output do you hear the doors actuate? Im assuming you have checked to see that the blower is not blocked or fan blades are intact?

Thank you chaosh1. Unfortunately I have also recently replaced the blower motor last summer. I assume the blend door is not the issue because all functions work accordingly when I select floor, defrost, floor and vent, etc.
I also owned a 2012 RAM 3500 Laramie Longhorns that had the same issue. I was hoping it was just a coincidence or a fluke that I owned two of the same manufacturer vehicles with the same identical issue. I have a coworker who has a 2019 3500 RAM and his air velocity is double if not triple of what mine is.

Your problems could be much worse, it is a sign when heater cores go out in Cummins your egr is clogged and gummed up. Did you remove cabin filter? Don't need that anyhow. If your lucky you had casting sand issue, but I'd start looking at egr. Do a forum search and other searches. EGR cooler issue with Cummins.

Thank you Burla, my truck is no longer utilizing the egr and my cabin filter is not the issue. It makes very little difference to the velocity of air whether or not the filter is in place.

I'm not sure what else is even doable, never heard of a blower motor upgrade. Maybe check if it is getting proper draw on amps?

High velocity doesn't mean high volume, it's usually just makes more noise.
Ram trucks usually have a lower velocity but that doesn't mean a lower volume.

I might suggest making sure that your blend doors close properly while you're in there. They may cycle, but if one (or more) aren't closing all the way air could be escaping from those and reducing the air output through the vents.

When the dash was reassembled possibly the airflow duct works got kinked or slightly disconnected.

The ducts are solid plastic. I don't think you can kink them but something could certainly be loose or not sealed properly. It would take something fairly large to significantly decrease air flow I would think.
