So maybe off topic, but is there a width difference between the Tow and Sport mirrors? Cause if I can switch mirrors even without power fold and they are smaller I might do that

The tow mirrors are definitely wider. I believe I've heard they add about 2" on each side, but I'm not positive of that.

Did you look to see if this truck has the power fold button? It's possible that the tow mirrors were added by the dealer or previous owner and the truck wasn't reprogrammed. Sports come standard with power folding mirrors unless they were ordered with tow mirrors.

It doesn't have the Power Fold option because it was built with Tow Mirrors from factory.

What I was thinking, is because I don't need tow mirrors, is buying the Sport Mirrors with Power Fold and replacing the switch housing. I have the vin and build sheet, but it's hard to tell if it's wired for Power Fold or not.

If it was built with tow mirrors there is no easy way to go back to sport mirrors that power fold.

Ah well crap lol - So is it easier to swap to Power Folding Tow Mirrors? I know you have to take the door panel off, etc. I was just hoping to save some extra space without tow mirrors.

No. Power folding is power folding. If the truck wasn't built with them then it's not easy to add them.

So is it easier to hold out for a truck that's already built for them? Literally this was the only option missing on this truck and I'm real close to buying it if they can do the mirrors, but if it's a pain, might just skip the truck.

If you really must have the folding mirrors and you want them to work like factory, then yes. Look for another truck.

Personally, given the difficulty I had finding trucks that fit what I wanted, I wouldn't let that stop me. You could always hardwire with switches like some guys have done. I'm also working on a more factory-like solution as discussed earlier in this thread.

Whatever you do, don't let the dealer promise you the mirrors in the deal and buy it thinking that you'll get them. Most dealers don't have a clue what's involved and might not be able to get Chrysler do add the sales code even if they knew what to ask for and who to ask. I've heard of more than one case where someone made a deal like that and the dealer couldn't deliver. At that point you could technically demand your money back, but you'll already have insurance, a registration, possibly a loan, you may have traded in your old car, etc. so it really isn't practical to return it.

Oh dang, I didn't realize Chrysler had to re-code it. That sounds like a pain. It's a used car dealer, not even the local Ram dealer. And they said they'd do the mirrors. I watched that YouTube video for 1AAuto that worked, so I thought maybe it'd be the same and just plug in the factory door switches.

It's been a pain to find what i want used. And this truck is perfect, minus folding mirrors. Honestly, if it had them I'd own the truck already lol

So the dealer is willing to do the Aftermarket Mirrors from 1AAuto. But obviously they'd have to wire the switch in some other place besides the OEM location.

Anyone know where I can find 6x9 Mirrors?

I don't tow enough and not a fan really of tow mirrors.

The current mirrors have these options:

Power
Heated
Courtesy Lamp
Supplement Signals

Wanting to go to Power Folding instead of Tow

There's a set in the classifieds now.

Saw those, but since they are OEM, I wouldn't be able to get the Power Fold to work without the new modules, switch and code, which seems impossible so I have to go aftermarket.

I didn't see any 6x9 that had all these options on 1AAuto

The same holds true for the standard sport mirrors. You can get them and wire a switch directly. That is what 1A Auto does. They have an aftermarket switch and harness that connects the mirrors together to a power source. That switch folds and unfolds the mirrors.

Oh I thought reading here and their website I couldn't do that with their aftermarket switch? It was only guaranteed to work with their mirrors.

The 1A Auto switch would only work with their mirrors but you can wire a double throw double pole switch directly and make it work. I had mine setup to be installed but waited to see if the module being worked on by 00R/T worked.

That sounds complicated lol - wiring is not my thing hence why I got the dealer to throw the mirror install into the deal, I was just searching for the mirrors but 1A doesn't have them in 6x9 :/

I might just have to stick with tow mirrors, but I literally tow a boat and a small goose decoy trailer a few times a year.

Any car audio installer should be able to handle it.

Gentlemen,

I am new to this forum I am on another however, the others will have no idea what I speak of. A lot of you have made headway on this topic already so I have a simple question. I have a 2013 2500 Laramie with sport/express mirrors with all the nice options like: power fold, heated, memory, auto dim and whatever else they come with. I am only wanting to swap my mirrors out with tow mirrors with the exact same options that is it. I obviously have to get my hands on a set of tow mirrors, but what is the likely hood of me getting a set with the same options and them working? Obviously minus the auto dim feature as the tow mirrors don't have them. Yes I know '13 tow mirrors did not come with these options however, '14 3500's did as well as some '14 2500's and various '15 models. Thanks in advance for the feedback.
