POWER STEERING FAILURE

While driving my work today I was taking a left turn and my power steering stopped working. My car had the power steering light pop up and also my screen in my gauge clustered said, "Power Steering Unavailable Service Required." I literally almost crashed into a huge electrical pole. due to my steering while becoming extremely stiff. My current milage is 2270.6 miles. About a minute later my power steering came back and my truck was fine. While parking my truck at work in the parking lot about 5 min. after the first failure my power steering failed again but came back within seconds. On the way home from work tonight my power steering failed and didn't come back for about 8mins/several miles. My power steering continues to fail then come back to normal then fail again.

Wow. Dangerous. Have not heard of this on the forum. But definitely need to get into the dealer. Good that you snapped a pic. Not sure if a default code will be stored. Would be interested in the out come.

Definately should be a stored code. I would use roadside assistance and have it towed to the dealership. This is an unsafe driving condition.

Same thing happened to my coworkers challenger. First time they said problem not found, second time they said could not duplicate, third time they flashed computer, 4th time more software, 5th time they finally replaced the rack assembly. After all that he never felt the same about the car and traded it in in different brand.

Dealership called and said: They ordered which is on backorder a new "EPSM." Can anyone tell me what this is and what this does? My truck also has stored "DTC's C2129-17" in EPSM. Any insight on any of this would be great.

Found this in a 2015 pdf for this code, not sure if it's the same for the 2019. "Battery Voltage - Circuit Voltage Above Threshold"

had the same problem on my 2017 grand Cherokee trail hawk. burried it up to the mirrors in snow. dealer said the snow froze around the electric power steering motor.warranty covered only 8000 miles on the thing.they replaced the whole steering rack. traded it in for a 2019 longhorn

Just got a call from an FCA employee from Warren, MI. I guess we will see what happens here. They seem more concerned they usual prolly due to a safety concern.

I guess the dealership opened a STAR case now and are working with the Chrysler engineers. They also ordered a new EPSM which is on national back order.

First they said Oct. 27th now they are saying Nov. 4th. So basically they have no idea lol
