My Power Wagon arrives this week. I have mods already lining up, but I had a question.

I am putting in a decked system (229lb) and about 225lbs in gear. Since this weight is distributed over the whole bed and axle, will I have much squat? And with years will squat get worse? That's about 1/3 of it's rated payload so I wasn't sure.

Anyone have a similar set up that can tell me how it sits?

Thanks

In addition to the decked unit, I also have a Snugtop topper. When i have the decked drawers full and a couple of coolers full of ice on top, I have between 1/2" - 1" of squat. I haven't noticed any change over time.

Funny my buddy just installed one yesterday on his new truck and called me this morning on his way to work. He said he could feel the difference in the way it was driving which surprised him. his is a 2020 PW. I asked how much it weighed and he said the shipping label said like 275 lbs but that included a pallet etc. He is used to driving a duramax 3500 so is used to a stiffer ride anyway.

Sounds like you have Decked (225lb +/-) Snugtop (475lb +/-) Gear and Coolers... 900-1000lbs

I am thinking since it has a decent rake stock and I am running 450lbs, it might be real minimal.

Lets Hope!

buddy just stopped by to show me the Decked system. I measured his hitch and compared it to mine and they are exactly the same height. So his never sagged any. Both are new 2020 PW's.

one thing I noticed is with the deck system you only have 8" to the top of the bed rails.

I have a SofTopper, a CargoGlide bed slide and regularly have 2 Gunner Kennels, 2 55 pound dogs and a cooler full of beer and ice. This all shakes out to about +/- 450 lbs.

No squat whatsoever as this is all distributed evenly across the CargoGlide.

I have a soft topper and decked system also.
I keep a bunch of equipment in the system and have never noticed a change in ride. Nor do I see squat. Makes me wonder if it is though. Must have 450+ lbs in the bed.

Can you post a pic of the gunner kennels? I just got our second GSP and need bed storage solution for the dogs. 52FD6180-227C-43FE-BF7F-274C0EA8D0F2.jpeg3242895C-F70C-4030-95BD-FEB0E4AD603B.jpeg

Some good lookin pups man!

Below is a pic of my setup. I actually don't have a Decked system because after doing all the math, the Gunners wouldn't fit under the Softopper with a Decked system and a CargoGlide... Did not run the numbers on just a decked system though so it still might work...

How are you guys getting your dogs in the bed of the truck? I have the Softopper with 2 Great Danes and I don’t want them jumping in and out with the height of this truck, especially as they age. I’ve seen lots of steps you can buy online but none look all that great to me.

I let them jump up if they are fresh mostly/ end of the day I pick them up under their rear legs and neck and put them in. I carry them off the same way I put them up if that makes sense. Too high to jump all the time. It will wear their joints out too fast. Not fair to them.

One is 80 and the other around 60 lbs right now. How big are your Danes? Post a pic. Awesome dogs

The fawn is 160 he’s part English Mastiff and the Harlequin is 135. Yeah I don’t want them getting injured jumping. Only takes 1 foul step.

You guys are making me miss this guy.
20160218_191447.jpg

We used a kids folding table for him to get in and out of the bed. It cut the distance in half.

Tried using our 4wheeler ramps. But he stepped on them and then jumped off...or would try to scurry up and going sideways...jump off.

We put a rubber kneeling pad onto the table for traction and cushion.

Do not have a pic of it but...it worked for him. As he got older it helped for me putting him in and out as well.

That is a beautiful dog. Sorry that hes gone now. The table idea sounds very promising...now I just need to find one sturdy enough.
Thanks!
