Seemed like a pretty straight forward deal, price seems about right to me...I’m going to ask to provide my own gear oil since I want to use Redline oils everywhere.

Does anything seem off to you guys?

WOW!!! That price isn't bad at all!

I would let them use their gear oil to when they do the swap. There is usually a 500 mile break-in period, then you're supposed to change the gear old. That's when I'd switch to the redline.

The first time you change the gear oil, there will be a LOT of shavings and make you think something is wrong. After that, there will still be shavings, but very little. At least that's what I've been told by 3 different gear shops (I had a JK unlimited.... lots of wheeling, very expensive lessons regarding the use of the skinny pedal :chair:).

VERY interested to read / hear your observations about the 4.56s with 37s.
When are you looking to get them in?

Looking to get them in once work picks up a little and the wife quits worrying about how much we're spending haha. Been kinda slow the last couple of months, but we have a few jobs starting here in the next few weeks that'll keep me busy until the end of the year.

As far as price goes, I got another quote from Dallas Offroad for just $100 more, and they use Yukon kits instead of G2. Comes with a lifetime warranty on the Yukon ring and pinions as well. Not sure if there's much of a difference between G2 and Yukon...people seem to prefer Yukon.

The only thing to take into consideration is typically the issue isn’t with the parts, but the lack of experience or knowledge of the guy putting them in, they typically toss directions and go with their experience and some times it’s fine... but on the off chance they missed something, or didn’t do as instructed... well disaster is gonna strike. So my advise is use which ever shop is gonna stand behind their work and take care of you.

Doesnt the 4:56 need a new front Carrier? Did I Miss that on there? I thought the 4:10 was as high as you could go and still retain the oem front carrier.

That’s a myth, cause you can get cab and chassis trucks with 4:30”s

So then to be clear, YOU DO NOT NEED a new carrier for 4:56 gears in the front, Am I understanding that properly?
And factory 4:30s will fit in the current carrier I have in my 2016 2500 long bed 4x4? Where can I get THOSE gears?
Just wanting to make sure I am understanding everything properly in case I finally choose to do this swap/

Sir,

Im going to 4.65’s or 4.88’s soon. A local shop told me that i can do 4.56’s without changing the carrier. So did yukon grears when i called them.

Now 4.88’s i was told need a new carrier.

All this information is what i was TOLD so take it as that.

What year is your truck? A local shop told me they changed something in the front end on 18 and i will need a new carrier. But the rear would work .

I’ve gotten 3 quotes and none of them have mentioned anything about 4.56’s not fitting up front with stock carrier. For what it’s worth...

FYI, when I got my 4.10s, they also said I wouldn't need a new carrier, and guess what, they did. So just because they tell you you won't doesn't mean they're right.

Not trying to come off as an ass, or put down the shop, but they've made a lot of changes with the 4th gen drivetrain and unless they focus on Mopar vehicles, I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't 100% correct.

Now I have a 2012 and I knew going in that I'd need one. I thought I read that in '14 they stopped welding ring to the carrier. So if they don't you likely won't need a new carrier I don't think.

My understanding is the C/C come with 4.44 mopar (aam) gears, not 4.30s but I'm not 100% on that. Not sure about carrier comparability.

If that shop does good work, then $2100 is a great price to do both diffs. But I'd find out and be sure as if the front carrier won't accept the 4.56s, then that is going to significantly increase the cost of the job
