I have a 2014 ram 1500 3.6 v6 8 speed automatic
The vehicle doesn't want to down shift to first gear at slow speeds only if you stop. If you slow down to 3mph and accelerate in the vehicle it shifts hard into first gear the transmission worked properly untill approximately 12000 miles went in for service and transmission update in this is been a problem for the last year the dealer replaced the valve body and the problem still there.
What could be the problem.

Programing, the ecu learned you don't need first until you are getting to a stop. I would disconnect the battery for an hour or two hook it back up and see if the problem persists.

Brun, you may give this a try. I know it sounds hokey, but this method of reset works for my '14 Wrangler. It has the same engine as your truck. Sooooo, turn on the key. Take 3 seconds to press the gas petal to the floor. Hold it to the floor for 3 seconds. Take 3 seconds to let off of the gas petal back up. Wait 3 seconds. Start the truck. When I do that with my Jeep, which has a manual six speed, and 3 73 rear end (which is lower than the 4.10 in my Ram), that Jeep is just about scary fast (for a Jeep).
