Procharger supercharger on a lifted Ram

Just got pricing on adding a Procharger supercharger to my 2013 Ram 1500. I've got a 6" lift and 37" tires. The Procharger should add 150 HP. Anyone else have a Procharger on their Ram. Any transmission or drivetrain problems?

Thanks!!

I'll say this, a centrifugal blower on a truck with a heavy set of tires is not going to be a fun drive at all. You typically need to get over 3000 rpm to begin building boost and heavy rubber needs a lot of low rpm torque, these are mutually exclusive to each other. If you want to go F/I then I would recommend looking at the E-Force blower since you'll have lots more low rpm torque.

The real limiting factor will be the transmission. If it's a 6-speed then you can try a L&M or a true street trans with their programming. If it's an 8-speed then you are stuck with stock tuning.

I've got the 6 speed trans. Pricing is $5200 for the Procharger, $350 for the black finish bracket and blower and about $900 to install and tune.

Ahh I was hoping for a supercharged 8 speed build lol! You'll need a new tranny down the road as well. Depending on how you drive this could be very soon. Add a few thousand for that too! Lol

Hmmmm..... sounds like a new trans would have to happen to go this route. Anyone have this setup.....that can confirm that?

I've got a procharger on my heavily modified truck right now which is why I recommended against the centrifugal blower with the tall/heavy tires. Going from my 31" tires to my 28" tires makes a world of difference. Even if you're running a 4.56 rear end you'll only have an effective ratio of 3.82:1 which isn't bad but considering my peak torque is at 4500rpm with the stock cam and pushing a lot more air than the 'stock' procharger kit you'll find it quite the dog off the line. If your intent is a top speed/sand rail kind of build then it'll be great once it's moving but that'll be about the only way I'd recommend a centrifugal blower with big tires, or a huge stall (4000-ish).

As I said above, there are 2 options for the trans, I've had a L&M behind my engine for over 2 years now and it's still going strong.

With 37s, the first thing I'd do is gear it as low as possible, and go from there. What rear end do you have now? Gear that thing way down, and you'll take a big load off the stock tranny.

Does L+M sell the parts that make the 5/645 much tougher? There's s Transmission Shop right down the high way from me. That would be handy to have them do everything.

Tuning is everything on the trans to make it last longer. IIRC L&M found a combination of clutch packs and tuning that makes it hold up longer.

Mike won't sell just the parts because he has to modify the housing and one clutch pack plus the pump. You can send him a core and he'll send you a modified trans. Tuning is the most important thing though

So, who then, does the tranny tuning?

I have the Hemi Fever/Diablo. Very happy with that combo. Is that the correct tranny tune, or is there something substantially better?

Any tuner can tune the transmission...L&M just has certain line pressure settings he wants to be used with his transmission/VB combo.

All I did with mine was send Mike my installed tune, he had Josh at HHP modify the tune and then sent it back ready to go. After that you can tweak the engine tune all you want, just don't touch anything in the trans sections.
