Vehicles are being stolen in this area at an outrageous rate. Even the push button vehicles with their fancy key fobs are being hacked and stolen. From what I can tell, my 2018 Ram has a two-wire pushbutton start, I'd like to wire a secondary switch in series , hidden, so both switches must close contact for the pushbutton to work.

Rather than cutting OEM wires, I'd prefer to make up a harness so I can connect the vehicle harness (male), to a secondary switch, then return that to the pushbutton switch (female). So, I'd need one male and one female connector.

Anyone one know if these are standard Molex or other brand connector? If so, what are the part numbers please?

Thanks

Don't leave your key fob out
Place it in a faraday bag or just use a metal can with a lid
but place the fob in a insulated bag or rubber glove before you place it in the can.

Only reason they get stolen is because stupid people leave their fobs in vehicle.

Your 2018 has a 4 wire push button start, not a 2. It is all CANBUS as well. If you want to install a kill switch, I would look in to breaking the starter solenoid circuit, that's 12v and easy enough to do. I'd recomend an on/off switch and not a momentary. If you looked up under the dash for it you most likely saw the temperature sensor which is a 2 wire. The push start is above that.

If only that were the case; it's because thieves have figured out how to fool the truck into believing the fob is near, or in the truck. They amplify and relay the signals between the fob and the vehicle. It takes two criminals to do it but hey, they get a free $50k truck for 15 minutes work.

That will work for now, I'd like something more convenient for the long haul.

You’re almost asking someone to design you a kill switch for your push button start you should know if someone is able to clone your fob you are still vulnerable?
Do you have a lock on your OBD2 port?

what about a steering wheel lock bar , I know 80’s tech but it’s still a deterrent, if someone really wants your truck they’ll just tow it but you could always chain it to something inside a garage

I'm thinking the opposite of a kill switch, more like a second run switch. Pressing only the OEM run switch would not start the vehicle, the hidden run switch would also need to be pressed. Now that I know the OEM switch is smarter than I figured (CANBUS), this may not be possible. If I had a wiring diagram I'd know for sure. The OEM switch should have a momentary SPST component, an illumination component and an LED indicator component, how that all comes together is the mystery.

Cloning the fob will get the thieves into the truck, no doubt about that. I don't have a lock on the OBD2 port because, in theory, the SGM will prevent the thieves from altering the onboard computers. Highly unlikely they travel with a wiTECH, lol.

I'm not opposed to using a Club, would come in handy at the high risk locations like the mall, or supermarket lots.

Find a OEM source for Aldata for your particular year.

The push button start doesn't have an electric circuit that enables the starter circuit directly. It's all done via the CANbus communication between the ECM, BCM, etc. Pushing the Start button begins a sequence to start the vehicle same as remote starting the vehicle, only difference is the source of what begins the sequence.
A starter kill switch is a sure fired way to stop/slow down a their from cloning your fob signal and stealing your truck.
Thieves use modules that either extends the signal from the fob or some even clone the signal, so not only can they open the door but also start an drive away.

Every circuit is analog at the electrical level, even if it's responsible for transceiving digital information. One open contact in an electrical circuit is no different than two open contacts in the same circuit.

A simple test should work: disconnect the push button switch assembly, will the truck start? if no, go to the next step, if yes, whoo boy, we got a problem (this is a joke). Reconnect the pushbutton switch, push the button, does the truck start? Yes, perfect, a 4-pole, single-throw switch is a kill switch. No, we pissed off the computer, start over.
