I need to park the truck in a theft prone area for one week. This is the first push-button to start, electronics intensive vehicle I own. In the past, removing a fuse or two would do the trick. Maybe these vehicles are difficult to 'hot-wire" and it's not an issue. I figured I'd explore the idea for peace of mind.

Removing the fuse for the transfer pump or injectors? I really don't want to disconnect the battery.

If you don't want to disconnect the battery then fuses would be easy, or the starter cables if you can reach it.

If I were a car thief and there was no power, I'd go straight to the batt which is pop the hood and you are off to the races. A fuse will take many more steps to solve. What happens when you disconnect the batt and reconnect after one week. How much of the settings do you have to re-set? re-connect your phone and settings on the dash. anything else?

Also, I have dual batteries. Not sure how that would work.

Find the fuse for the starter solenoid the under hood fuse box, if I read it correctly from the description, it will be F07 Better with a diesel to not let it crank over than starve the high pressure fuel pump because the lift pump isn't running. The fuel pump fuse looks to the F70.

Good call on the starter fuse. I'd say that's the best option. I'll go check it out.

I installed one of Jeff's kill switch harnesses.

They're quick and easy to install. The prices are hard to beat, and Jeff provides excellent support.

You don't lose that many settings, you'll have to reset your heater, but you do that daily usually, and you'll have to reset the radio's amp settings, but not the radio stations,as they'll remain, that's about all you should lose by pulling or disconnecting the batteries. Both my truck and the wifes Challenger used to sit all winter with their batteries disconnected, and they didn't lose many settings

Thanks for the link to Jeff's kill switch. I need a quick fix for this weekend but it's nice to have the option of a kill switch when the need arises.

I recently had a Viper installed, but I still use the kill switch.

Another great low-cost theft mitigation device I purchased is a cover for the transmission neutral release cable. Sold by another Ram Forum member, @Destroyer1320 .

Pulling the fuel pump relay is a good plan. Keep in mind some thefts are "hook and go" where they use a "stinger" style tow truck and snag the truck to tow it somewhere nearby but isolated and then trailer it. Professional chop shops will often do that with a stolen tow truck and they'll leave it sit for a bit to see if anyone shows up for a GPS tracker. Parking nose in against a wall and turning the front wheels all the way to one side makes it harder to pull out.
