image.jpg Because I have an account with amsoil I get their seasonal magazine, the article that I read in the fall issue was about Paul Jordan’s 408 molar drag engine that said he uses a wix oil filter as the primary and a amsoil oil filter as the secondary.I won’t go into the whole article that of course promoted their oil. I wish I could see how he did it so I could give it more consideration. Has anyone with a gasser done or heard of this being done on a newer 5.7,or if this would inhibit oil flow.

Two choices, bypass or two filter set up. As proven by ram forum member 69gwc the two filter set up have no restriction of flow, same psi. The way a bypass works is a diverted flow that should not obstruct original flow too much, but can't say it would or wouldn't effect psi a little.

I think with modern spun glass filtration, I doubt there is much more benefit to a bypass over a two filter set up. The reasons diesels go to bypass setup has more to do with extended interval as opposed to filtration, yes filtration as well, but interval is the main benefit. Something you can't do in a gasser as the tbn will be long gone before it makes any sense at all to extend it.

If you look at the filter patches in the filter test in my sig, there just isn't much making it through the spun microglass at that micron rating, but having two filters would certainly catch more particles.
my 2 cents

Thanks that is a best thing for the hemi,as long as it gets the oil hot enough regularly.

Yeah my trucks oil temps are never below 215* so all good there.
Figured if I was going to relocate the oil filter might as well get two filters on there to make sure the oil stays clean.

Since then I changed my opinions and use of oil coolers.Never too old to learn.
