I will be installing my radar detector this week. Someone on another forum told me the yellow/pink wire in the overhead console is a switched 12v wire if I have the auto dimming mirror. I don't think mine auto dims. It has the normal old school switch under neath for dimming. I do have the mirror with the microphone for phone calls and the console has the map lights and a led light that comes on at night. Is there a 12v wire that powers on when you start the truck?

Cops very much use radar still...as inaccurate as it is.

Usually Ka band.

LIDAR is a very expensive system and not all LE have the funds to support such devices in their budget.

At one time I was going to get a laser jammer, but decided against and spent the money on something else uneeded... like a new gun.:badidea:

Yup! There is twelve volts up in the mirror switched on with the ignition.

I don't have a schematic so I can't tell you which wires and colors are 12v and ground. Maybe someone else can help here.

Jammers are illegal as the FCC states your interfering with a govnt/offical signal. since they dont give a reading back its kind of obvious you have one and if the cops pulls you over for suspicion and starts snooping and finds it your going to jail.

I on the other hand have thought of buying one cause well, **** it - right? but they are not cheap, and I agree the money can be spent on other "needed" things :roflsquared:

Well, I didn't mean the actual jammer full bore. I meant the one that gives you 10 seconds to slow then it allows a reading. I don't need any of them because I don't speed anymore.

Yes, in Texas they are "illegal" per say, but not really enforced. Not many people run them around my area and they are a little pricey, but who abides by the FCC rules anyway, look how many folks are running linear's on their CB's.

Getting caught for speeding is the least I'm worried about anymore.

It's more my illegal window tint or my no-mud flaps or darkened taillights or.....

Not for offset.

If by guards your referring to mudflaps...yes.

Although, I pass LE all the time and Nvr have a problem. Guess it's just a matter of time.

Well... down here we call them hangin' things splash guards on a 1/2 ton truck and mud flaps on 3/4 and up ton truck. So basically every vehicle has to have them? The only thing I would hit somebody on is HID's in a halogen housing, other than that you can do what you want.

Haha...very well. :roflsquared:

I haven't looked at the ars statute recently but if I recall...

If you lift your truck higher than factory or if it came from the factory at 3/4 ton or bigger it has to have Mudflaps or splash guards.

But Its just like anything, LE picks and chooses what they want to enforce.

But for the most part they're pretty lax here in the Wild West.

weird how state laws are so different. proves its all BS. In MA your not required to have mudflaps at least not what I have read. the most you can lift a vehicle here legally is 3" TOTAL height (including tires), so pretty much any and every lift is illegal. As for offset the edge of the tire has to be flush with the fender flare. No one gets pulled over here for lifts but they do get hassle for offset as it flings rocks. as long as you have huge flares its legal.

I don't see a problem with makin at least a federal lift law the same for all states lol...shouldn't really change between states.

Lots of lifted trucks here riding dirty like myself...mudflaps are not a popular thing here in az. Now in Cali...whole nother story lol

As for offset...I've seen some crazy amount of "poke"....like stupid amount.

You'd be amazed at the laws that get put in place and the LE doesn't even know about it. Everyone is breaking some kind of law every day, just know one realizes it. Some of the state laws are just absurd...

Haha yup...

In az you can get a ticket for covering up the word "arizona" on your license plate with a license plate frame.

Like...wtf?

It comes down to revenue. All it's about.

Same here, I haven't run a front plate in over a year and they don't bother me. The only time I got pulled over for plates was because I had a set of tinted plate covers, the officer said I had a plate light out, I said really? I said that I just left the gas station and they were all working, then he changed his story to my tinted plate covers saying that they black out when the lights hit them. I ended up getting searched and let go without a warning and I told him a little to late that he was violating my 4th Amendment which protects me from unwarranted searches - he said have a nice night!

That's a WTF situmawation...
