So my radio is dead. 2013 8.4, no nav. Been working fine, then yesterday I stopped at a gas station, and when I started the truck, radio was black. Checked fuses, including the one outside the fuse box, all good. Everything I find about a reset I've tried, but they all seem to be based on at least having the power on.
Trying to find out if I missed something, or if I need to get this one repaired or replaced. I'd like to do the Tesla style, but I have air suspension, so I'm pretty sure that's out. Have to do something quick, I drive a lot, and with no suspension control, a flat tire could be a huge issue.
Any and all suggestions welcome.

I’ve heard that if you hold down the volume and tune buttons together for about 10 seconds or so it will reboot the radio and do a soft reset and that may hopefully correct your issue.

I've tried that. No luck. I've also tried the temp up/down, and the VR/phone combo. All stuff I've seen online. Nothing is working. Looks like I'm going to pull it and get it fixed

I have a 2014 8.4 RA4 I'll be selling. I'd let you buy it and return it to me with a refund less shipping?

That way if it doesn't work you could be reasonably assured it's not the radio...

Conversely, you could upgrade to a newer 8.4 with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay plug and play.

I'd definitely be interested in doing that, but I have to do something soon. I wouldn't mind the newer radio, but I listen to XM almost exclusively, so I don't really need the other upgrades.
My biggest concern is that I can't control my suspension right now, and if I get a flat or need to jack it up I'm screwed.
And it completely sucks not having music and no real control of the climate control

Ok, if you decide just shoot me a PM.

Quick question, have you tried disconnecting your battery cables completely and touching them together for 15 seconds or so (then reconnecting)?

This is essentially a "whole truck reset"

I didn't try touching them together, but I did leave the battery disconnected for about 20 minutes. I pulled the radio out today, and it was pretty warm to the touch. I'm guessing it's shot.
I'm going to plug it in and try the battery trick.
I'll PM you soon.
Thanks

The older ones get pretty hot. My RA4 did the same. I added cooling fans.a3bda7b90aa99b0f0719bcf79d2e0da6.jpg

Not for nothing my NAV was whacked out for the past 10k miles. but I never used it. A soft reboot worked for a day and then it went nuts again.
A Uconnect update seems to have fixed that. Maybe give that a go, if you have something corrupt in there, a new flash could be the ticket?
