Hey everyone. I currently own a 2014 Ram and am looking at newer trucks with the Hemi before they become harder and harder to find.

I found a 2021 Laramie with 3.92s, 33gal tank, Laramie level A Equipment, 12" uconnect 5 etc.

I currently tow a 5000~ lb trailer. Where I currently sit on payload I am at 1300 with a 14 Bighorn (which is pretty terrible imo)
That puts me at me and wife 310+kids 80 +trailer weight 6-750 (there is a heavy slide out pre rear axle on the trailer) plus a 30 gal water tank (240lbs)

310+80+750=1140 leaving me 160 lbs in the estimated heaviest config without anything in the bed. I notice it when I am carying water.

I was hoping to upgrade to a Laramie with the higher payload hoping to offset some of the additional weight and get some extra leftover weight after that. The dealer said the payload is 1860 which i think is the bare bones Laramie book level. That doesnt seem right to me.

What are your Laramie payload numbers and your optional equip? Laramie only please.

Concur - check the sticker on the B-pillar.
I have a 2017 Laramie RWD with a 1,452 lb payload per the sticker with a 6,900 lb GVWR. It has the 32 gal tank and 3.92 rear axle ratio. Getting into much details below those starts to get in the weeds because it will take a bit of digging to find all the weight impacts across different equipment.

Best recommendation is to weigh the vehicle and then keep track of what goes in and what goes out. Then subtract that value from your GVWR for actual remaining payload.

I have a 22 Laramie 4x2. Payload on the sticker is 1508Lbs. Crew cab w/sunroof (worthless dead weight IMHO) & 23 gal tank. Added after purchase so these count against payload: OEM side steps, spay in bed liner, OEM deployable bed step and Undercover tonneau cover. Add ons weigh in at 145lbs. Just a guess, but I figure the sunroof is costing me about 150lbs in payload. I’m 230lbs and my wife comes at……I’m not really stupid enough to post that number.

Unless you camping off-grid somewhere shed some weight where you can, such as the 30 gallon water tank.

I'm aware of this. I don't want to drive to the dealer and deal with a salesman just to read a door sticker.
If you have a truck you’re interested in; ask a sales rep to text you a pic of the door sticker. If they don’t want to do that you don’t want to work with them anyway. I bought a 2019 from a dealer 4.5 hours from where I live. Sales rep sent me a host of pics of things I had questions about. Made the deal for the truck via texts and a couple of phone calls.
