I’m looking to swap my standard short bed for the short bed with Ram Boxes.

I’ve sourced the bed, wiring and adapters which will arrive later this month.

I can’t find anything specific stating whether or not the tailgates swap over or not.

Does anyone have first hand experience with this swap or have specific detail related to swapping the tailgates?

Thanks in advance!

Tailgates are identical as long as one of them isn’t the MFT version.

Does your 1500 currently have the 5'7" bed,or the 6'4" bed?
When I did the swap on my 2500 last November with a used bed from the salvage yard, they told me ALL Rambox beds are 6'4"
My used Rambox bed came from a 1500,so make sure to double check and confirm it will fit

The standard bed on the 2500 is the 6’4” bed so that makes sense.

I ordered mine from car-part off of a 2023 1500 with the 5’7” bed so there should be no fitment issues.

For 5th gen 1500’s, the rambox bed is only available on the 5’7” length. For HD’s it’s only available on the 6’4” bed. They are not interchangeable.

On 4th gen 1500’s you could get the rambox bed on 5’7” and 6’4” lengths. HD’s still use 4th gen sheet metal so you were able to use a bed from a 4th gen 1500.

you have to reuse everything for your tail gate wires, I did it and none the new hardware works I gutted my old tailgate ( it was damaged) and installed to the new one. overwork after that. can you pass methe part number for these jumper cable that go between chasis wires harness to the rambox bed connector. thank you

Have you recieved it yet, Curious how that process works? (have never ordered from them)

How did you arrange shipping for it etc?

The order process was easy. Called them up, got more pics and ordered. Shipping is a pain. I will be running out with a trailer to pick it up.

tailgate is the same but hardware(lock and camera from you old tailgate nee to be reused, since if you use new one, they need to be program, won't work out of the box

How much did you pay for the swapped out? How did you make sure the color matched? I want to get rid of my RAM Box Bed. Unfortunately it is a 2025 so I doubt I will find one.

Disregard my original post. I think i understand now you have a 1500 and ordered a 1500 bed. Correct?

I hope you actually measured tailgates. My neighbor has a 2023 Ram 1500 and his tailgate is too narrow to fit a 2500/3500 truck.
I don't think the 1500 5th gen bed you bought will fit your 2500 at all. Good luck.
Who are you responding to? If it's @Sandevino he has a 1500 not a 2500.

Edit: Nvm...I see you edited your post.

If it is not quoted, the response is for the Original Post.
Considering your response was to a post that is more than 5 months old I didn't want to make any assumptions. ;)

I picked up the bed, brought it home and that’s as far as I’ve taken the project unfortunately.
