Guys, I'm new to rams .....for research and ordering parts sometimes I see an option for my 2019 classic and sometimes I don't. What is it, electronically, power train wise? A 4th gen like 2017? Just trying to learn, thanks!

Yeah exact same from, Like 2013 on if you have the 8 speed. The 2019 and 2020 classic is just old stock of parts they had to throw together a of the 4th Gen because officially the 4th Gen ended in 2018 but its the exact same thing.

RAM introduced the new Gen 5 1500 in 2019. However FCA continued the Gen 4 production line rather than shutting it down completely. They market a limited selection of bodies and trims as ‘Classic,’ a little less expensive value alternative to the new Gen 5.

Ford has done this during several F-150 generation changes, building both old and new during a longish transition.

FCA has been more coy about it by not laying out a wind down timeline. Guess they will keep Gen 4 Classics in the lineup as long as they sell.

well most.body parts etc. electrical parts i would say 18 up.wiring, control modules, clusters radios can differ from year to year.if you see the year i.e 2020 ds its a classic if its a 2020 dt its the newer body style. because s comes before t in the alphabet that helps me keep it straight.

There have definitely been changes from 13 to 19 within the 4th gen for example carplay/android auto only started in 2018 and bed lights only started in 2016. I think the cabin air filter as standard only started in 2017 and I am sure there are others. In general a nearlier year part will fit a later year part but not always the reverse. There are people here that know LOT more about this than I do so always ask. My 2015 Express has as been upgraded with parts from across the 4th gen years.

The classic is ridiculously cheaper then the new body style and I do mean ridiculously cheaper. I got my 2021 for a whooping $21k off msrp.

It was at least $18-22k more for the same truck in 5th Gen.

Around here the Classics out sell the gen 5's by alot!! 45k vs 76k is a no brainer. Decent, well equipped truck for mid 40s is almost non existent anymore.
