Hello, I'm new here and hoping to get some assistance.
I recently bought a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.9 gas engine with 129k. I bought it knowingly with a bad transmission and replaced with a Napa trans. The first one they sent me had a torque converter issue so they sent me a new one and then was installed. I replaced the exhaust, o2 sensor, cooler lines, and has a new radiator to stay within warranty for the trans.
Now, here's the issue. It runs and idles smooth but when I'm driving or I let it idle long enough, it will randomly shut off. No knock, not buck, just shuts off like you turned the key off. Sometimes I can drive 50 miles fine, or other times can't leave the driveway before it dies. When it does this, the "overdrive off" switch will light up. I had a friends diagnostic tool and it also calls for a bad trans temp senor too. The last part is that after it randomly dies, if you try to restart truck with key still it the on position it will crank for awhile until starting. But, if you turn the key off and back on again it fires right up like it;s supposed to.
Hopefully someone has some insight. Thanks a bunch.
