Is there any difference in body btwn a 2014 and 2016 quad cab sport? the running boards I want say up to 2014 sport, I wouldn't think there would be any difference.

There are most likely slight differences - mostly in where the pre-drilled holes in your rocker panels sit. If you get the running boards and they don't line up, you'll have to drill your own holes, but the biggest danger is that the frame brackets might not quite line up. This can range from a minor inconvenience to being something you're gonna have to send the product back over.

This is why it's pretty important to match-up the year (and body style! A running board that fits a QuadCab probably won't fir a CrewCab.)

That’s the only difference between 1500’s

Nope - there were additional (or different) dampeners added in 2016 i believe... maybe late '15. shouldn't be an issue for normal steps, but the AMP power steps needed some workarounds.

Tbh I would just double check with the mfg, when I bought mine I was emailed by vendor to validate my build/cab/yr.

And what people are saying is true, they changed the mounting points between certain years. Don't trust our word for it but check with the vendor first.

It maybe the Mexico plant was already putting in the newer style mounting holes but not 100%

Or the new frame brace that improved the crash rating

I tried to use the steps from my 13 Sports on my 16 Sports and I was told they would not fit because the 16's mount differently. Both were CC. Make sure your parts guy knows what he is talking about when you check with him---a lot of them don't have a clue.

I think I can help out with this.... I stumbled on the same query before I bought my running boards for my 2018 truck.

While looking for running boards and searching online for reviews and videos, I found that there is a bracket that is there (or is different) on later model year trucks that interferes with the front drivers side mounting location. Running board hardware accommodates for that difference.

Amazon customer reviews on certain boards state that they had to modify that bracket to fit - most manufacturers offer specific parts to accommodate for that difference. Note the 1 different bracket here - that's the front drivers one that is cut different.

See step 2 of these instructions for a look at what I'm talking about.

It looks like these will be fine, I called Steelcraft and talked to tech support, he said these will work up to 2018.I then printed off the instructions with photos of the RAM, I just crawled under mine and it looks the same as the photos.
