Rear Brake Light Stays On ??

Why is my dash telling me that my right rear brake light is ",out" when its fine?. Also I'm getting a right rear turn signal is "out" message too on occasion when its fine.

If I remember correctly from reading posts about this, this message can also be about the center high mounted stoplight. The message can also be caused if you switched out to LED lights.

The way the electrical circuit is for the brake lights is that when the 3rd brake light(Cab mounted) is blown it will display a right brake light out message. Have someone hold the brakes while you check it out. Quick and easy change.

Thanks for info,, I have a topper on my truck so I didn't notice the cab light is actually "out" .I'll have to remove the topper to fix. The truck dash is showing Right rear brake light out. Why wouldn't it be showing the cab light?? I do have a working 3rd brake light on the back of the topper so zim in no hurry to repair.

just the way they decided to wire out the circuit they tied it into the right brake light instead of adding a display for the 3rd brake light

The high mount brake light isn’t wired into the passenger side brake light. It has its own driver from the BCM.

If it was a picture that came in the cluster is just a generic picture for brake lights out. It shows the passenger side but it can be any brake light that is out.
