OK so let me explain the situation. My new '13 1500 has the fold flat floors in the back seat. Great option. Dog loves being able to walk around on a flat floor. 1 Problem. The cup holders are still open, so his paw keeps slipping in the cup holder. I don't want him to hurt himself so i want to make something to fill the cup holders so when i fold the floor out, it is completely solid and doesn't have 2 holes in it.

I though about just cutting a small piece of plywood and wrapping it with a black carpet to fill the void, but I'm not sure this will come out well. Want this to look factory, and not like a make shift garage project gone wrong! Any ideas? Once i get an idea together i will write up a DIY with pictures for anyone that likes the idea and wants to try for themselves.

Thanks!

Number one way to make it look 'nice' is to router the edges before you wrap it.
Square edges scream 'homemade'

The second most important thing is patience and prototyping.
I've made something in prototype 4-5 times, before I got a final idea.
I've also tried 5-6 times and walked away because it wouldn't work.

I have the same exact issue with my dog. What I did as a non-permanent fix was just put one of our extra dog beds back there for when we're travelling. This way she has something soft to lay on and she doesn't step in the cup holder and hurt herself.

I'm curious to see if anyone comes up with something though.

This exact thought and same reasoning has gone through my head.
However my dog usually rides in the bed unless the weather doesn't permit so I haven't been in a rush to figure something out.

I know that paint can tops fit. In another vehicle I use an extra upholder as a phone mount. Took a spray can top and then cut a piece of pvc pipe to put under it to make it the height I liked. Little glue and bingo.
