I am replacing the seal on my rear door window (quad cab). I suspected leaks, had the panels off already for a stereo upgrade, and decided to refresh the seals.

The upper bracket on the window frame has broken free of the glass frame. Glue gave way. I either stressed it taking it off, or it was already separated.

Is there a recommended glue to re-attach the spring steel bracket? Or just pony up $50 to LMC for a new window, since any repair might not last for long.

If I replace it, any suggestion for gunk/sealer for the gasket to the door metal at the top?

Thx!

Some folks swear by DP100 for making permanent bonds, but I've never used it on anything similar to your situation. All you can do is try it and see how it goes. As for the gasket sealer, I assume you're looking for something to apply to the surface of the gasket to make it seal better against the door, not something to attach the gasket to the glass. If that's the case then DC111 would be worth considering. In aviation circles we use it as an O ring sealer throughout the aircraft's pneumatic and air conditioning systems. It's a non drying silicon based product that's rather thick, unlike silicon grease. Apply it to the gasket surface, close the window and it'll never leak again. On my 98 the high mounted brake light gasket started leaking when the truck was around a dozen or so years old. I applied DC111 to the gasket and haven't had a leak since and my truck is now 27. The link below will take you an Amazon page where you can see it.
