I have a set of strobes installed in the front at the windshield where it meets the roof liner... But I'm struggling to decide where to install a set of strobes in the rear.... Does anyone have any suggestions?

They are 6 little sticks, 3 white and 3 amber.

I do like that rear setup. Problem is my windows are 5% tint and anything I put inside the cab will be seriously dimmed. Also, I can't put anything above the license plate because I have a very thick frame.

I am, however, going to take a very close look at your setup to see how I can use some of the components. Between those two posts, it seems to list all the items you used as well as where you used them, yes?

Just because I'm out and about right now, I wanted to ask if they came in other colors than blue. I'm looking more for amber/white for emergency vehicle rather than police vehicle use.

Also are those self sustainable strobes somehow or do you need some sort of control module?

Are your rears wired so so they work as expected in reverse or you can turn them on when you wish? (I'm doing research and now am getting ideas and questions from your setup)

Strobes and LEDs are two different things. An LED light is not a strobe light. I recommend going with LEDs as well as they are much easier to install and a lot brighter.

You mentioned you have 5% window tint. I also have 5% window tint and my Feniex lightbar in the rear window punched through just fine.

Here's a video for reference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf6iUFrp_80

Looks really good! I have done a lot of research on the Feniex items and I am failing to see how they are controlled. I see a controller on their website, but is that the only thing you need? Are there other cheaper options? Are the lights in your video synced up as per the instructions or are they alternating? What the heck does that even mean? lol

Thanks in advance - soon I'll probably just buy some and see what happens... I just hate not knowing how things work before I buy them so there are no hidden gotchas...

Ok - as for the Feniex lighting. In my opinion, as well as quite a few other emergency responders, Feniex is your best bet as far as pricing, quality and customer service. Their products are outstanding and the prices are great. Check out FEVER INC (type in google) he is a distributor where I purchase all my equipment from. Great guy to deal with.

As far as controlling the lights. All the light modules have a built in flasher. So that being said, all you have to do it mount the light where ever you want it on your vehicle and simply supply 12v power to it. You can power the lights by a single, simple toggle switch, or you can get fancy and get a control box that has more control options and a siren included. I personally just use a switch (now my homelink buttons) to turn on and off my lights as I don't need to have anything more fancy than that. It's all up to you.

PM me if you have any other questions, I'll be glad to help any way I can.

So I would wire all of the lights to a single switch for turning on and off? What about if/when I want to change the flash pattern?

What I do for my POV (My Ram truck) is I buy a nice toggle switch which I recommend using OTRATTW switches (search on here and google). Then you need a power distribution box such as this - http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/dbmuvjs8i3dxhngsltt5.jpg

There are different types of power distribution blocks - Just make sure at the least, you have an inline fuse as close to the battery as possible.

Then from the power distribution block, you wire each lights hot (red) wire to the power block.

So - to recap - you should run one Hot and one ground wire to you switch directly from the battery, making sure to have that inline fuse as close to the battery as possible. I use 16g wire which in my opinion is plenty big for power LED lights. Then you'll use 16g wire again to run the power OUT wire from your switch, to that power distribution block wherever you decide to mount it. Then from there, just connect all you hot wires from any lights you put on, to that distribution block so they get power whenever you flip that switch.

I always try to ground the lights as close to the actual light itself as possible because it's neater, less wires and I think it's just the right thing to do lol.

But as mentioned, I'm not longer using a toggle switch as I put in a module so that my Homelink buttons act as my switches now.

Okay I understand the power and ground part but I was more asking about the configuration of the wiring so they all work together. I know you use a wireless switch which I'll probably use, but I assume their "switch wire" runs from each LED unit all to the same wireless switch module?

Also, what happens when you want to switch flash pattern?

Additionally, how did you wire them into the existing spot while still maintaining the existing functionality of the fog/turn but using it as a flasher when desired? I think I'm just missing the concept on the dual functionality for the single light

You might be surprised with the license plate lights. They sell a light specific frame that might slip over your existing frame: Accessories :: Hardware :: Brackets :: Feniex Apollo License Plate Bracket - FEVER, Inc. :: Products

I have 5% tint on my windows as well. If you use a Feniex Cobra light stick you will have no problem penetrating the tint. I am replacing my light stick with one once I have funds available. Being that I am in middle of purchasing my first house, that might be put on the back burner for a while lol.

You are correct, I did list what lights I used and where in my post.

They come in a ton of color combinations. You can find amber/white easily.

My rears are wired to act as reverse lights... same with my fogs.

^This. That is an excellent setup. Also, very nice use of sync between the lights. I've been looking for a Cobra 800 to replace my POS light stick that I have now but when you get something for free, its hard to justify spending more money lol.

I do like that setup as well. I guess the syncing is a feature between the lights themselves? Don't know if I need anything else to sync them. I read the install instructions and saw it mentioned syncing but didn't know how they did it...

Also, which light is on the step bars of that white one above? I like the small alternating color, I should be able to mount that in the rear somewhere in tandem with them backup lights.

I can't conceptualize the wiring to allow those to work both as their normal function as well as an LED, but that's what I would like.

Also, unfortunately I can't screw or add anything into the license plate frame... I have a thick frame like this: Hide Away License Plate | eBay

Sent from my LG-H810 using Tapatalk

Ahhh I see now. Yeah the license plate lights are out for you. As far as wiring goes, the Cannons and F12s are dual mode meaning they have a power wire for each function. Say you make your reverse light mode 1. You will connect the mode 1 power wire to the reverse light power wire as well as connecting the ground. Mode 2 will be your warning mode. The mode 2 power wire will be connected to a 12v power source (Battery) and switch. As finicky as our trucks are, you are going to want to be sure you have a good ground. Also, in the even they do not work in reverse, you may have to wire them to the trailer harness reverse power. I had to do this for my plate lights.

--------------------------------------------------
I'm sure firemedic can verify but those look like Feniex Apollo F12s to me. They are the same lights I have in my grill and on my license plate.
