I have just boutght an 06 ram 1500 2wd with a hemi. it seems to be a little slugish so i started looking in to rearend ratio. i am a former chevy guy so i expected it to have a 3.43 or at most a 3.73. the dealer said from running the vin that it had a 3.92. i am thinking that by putting a 4.11 or 4.54 that i would give the truck quit a bit more pick up. i am however worried about loosing the ability to take it on long road trips driving on the highway. any help would be great.

4.10's would be a small jump from the 3.92 gear, 4.56 would be a bigger jump. Be glad you dont have a 3.55 rear, the 3.92 was common on the 4x4 but more of an option for the 2wds. Guys who do alot of highway miles with the 4.56s will chime in.

I agre with everything said above. 4.56's are really going to wake the truck up down low, but you will lose some mileage if you consistantly drive over about 65-70mph. If you normally stay below those speeds, then I would go with the 4.56's hands down.

Perhaps you need to look at something else. I've never heard these with the Hemi's called "sluggish". Are you sure the plugs are good, air filter's clean and that your catalytic convertor(s) aren't bad?

3.92's should be pretty stout on a 2wd IMO.

3.92,s I'd leave well enough alone other than checking if the Moustache clips are still where they need to be. Like the fellow said do a Tune up and get a Superchips and CatBack to start, That will wake her up and you should then get a 0-60 of at least 6.5 seconds. Danny

Welcome to Ram Forum Buddy and BTW I associate Chevy with Coloured Rainbows (J/K)but thats just me (I remember all those Broken Drivetrain Parts all over the Road when I was a teenager).

Never though of that! Ok now I get it 2WD, Know that would be worth it except for the Cruising on the HWY part of the equation.

thanks all for the input. i think i am going to leave the gear alone for now, and start with a cat back system and programer. for the programer i am thinking diablo t1000 but as far as the cat back idk. i want something super loud but not a poppy sound.

You have to have patience with the intune 1000. If at first it will not read your truck's information, drive it around a bit n try again. I had this issue and it's very frustrating.
