Well to start. I purchased a 2015 SLT quad cab ecodiesel (Canadian model). Immediately took to converting it entirely to the sport front end with all OEM parts. In order to make the projector headlights work properly I needed the adapter harness from retroshop which works great. Now my question is... does anyone know if it's possible to reflash the ecu so the daytime running lights are the LEDs like the sport or limited? Currently set up the SLT uses the highbeam as the DRL and then the highbeam shuts off when the turn signal is on which has slowly annoyed me over the last year so I would like it to function properly as a sport or limited.

I have been to 2 dealerships locally, both have taken the truck in and came back an hour later saying it is not possible to do, I just feel that with today's technology that it has to be possible with the simple press of a button when connected to the computer? No local dealerships know much about anything other than oil changes and tires so I'm looking for someone that actually knows what they're talking about and can shed some light on this for me. I do have a buddy with a limited ecodiesel willing to let me flash his VIN to my ecu if that is all it will take? But I have been told by both local dealerships that it's not possible to flash his VIN because the new computers are linked to the Internet somehow and it has to go through a database etc and that even if they could do it, it wouldn't work.

I'm going to guess that it probably isn't possible. I've been talking to Jeremy at Retroshop and asked this very question. His answer was that it would either be the high beams, or turn off the highs and run a wire to the fuse box to a 12V ignition source then the leds would act as your DRL.

I have a 2015 Sport and it doesn't even have DRL. Mine is a US model though, so maybe that makes a difference.

I have found that there are some things(flashes) that can't be done at the dealership level, however they can be done by the "regional" office.

Here's the other kick........

The adapters are NOT wired with a DRL pin. So....on the factory, pin 4 is DRL. Power is only sent through that pin on a truck that had these from the factory.....so, no need to pin that up....as......where would it wire to? No "simple" way to provide power there, when its directed at the highs on a truck that didn't come with the projector lights......ya know?

I just tackled this last weekend on my 11. The drl module worked perfectly and the led's now operate as drls and are now as bright as the trucks that came stock with the 13+ projectors. I haven't gotten the dealer to disable my factory high beam drls yet though. They said it was gonna run me $115, so still debating if I can justify that.

With you having a 15 though, I have no idea if the same thing would work. I know the computers are more finicky these days...

I ran the DRL-1 module on my 2013 that had stock projectors but the dealer says the DRLs couldn't be activated. The module was simple to install and functioned exactly as intended. My amber LEDs would come on at full power when the truck was on, still flash with the turn signals and dim when the parking lights were turned on. I have the module for sale now that I have my new 2015 with the DRLs already turned on. PM me if interested in the module

This sounds like it could be what i am looking for as i know for a fact DRLs can be disabled by setting my country to the states rather than canada (or so i am being told by a local dealership). But with the DRL-1 installed, when you say the amber LEDs came on at full power when the truck was on and the turn signals still functioned properly... If the LEDs are already at full power when driving and you turn on your signal, did the LEDs on the signalling side cut out completely during each blink/flash while the signal was on? Just want to clarify that before i go and order this module and see if it works.

Awesome, i will give this a shot! dealer has confirmed with my VIN that my DRLs can be disabled with 2 methods so as long as this works on the 15s then it'll be exactly what i am after. Thanks!

Like I said before though, with you having a 15, they seem to be very picky. When it comes to Hids anyway. So hope it works for ya!

Edit: reread your original post. If your hids are working fine with the adapter already, then I see no reason why it wouldn't work.
