I love this idea. Question though... by extending and relocating the filter with longer hoses (albeit braided and same diameter) does this lower oil pressure or is the added distance the oil travels really negligible?

I never noticed any drop in my oil pressure when moving, there was a slight drop in pressure at idle but I am also running Redline 0W30 so it's hard to compare to an engine running 5w20 since it's on the heavier end of the 30W spectrum.

My idle pressures dropped from 53psi to 51 psi,but changing from 5W-20 to 5W-30 Redline brought everything back to where it was prior to relocating the oil filter. I wouldn't say I lost 10F like Charonblk but definitely did drop at least 5 degrees of oil temp. One of the better mods I did in my opinion, sure makes changing oil a lot nicer,:happy107:

I haven't noticed any loss of pressure, I used -10 hose and fittings (5/8" ID) to hopefully make sure it wouldn't restrict flow.

This is my next project.

Looks like I need:
4 -10 90 degree AN fittings
4 1/2" NPT to AN adaptors

A few questions:

Did you use the hose from the 1127 kit?
Looks like 5/8"ID hose is for -10AN, but I could not find the hose size in the kit description. All I can see is wall thickness of 1/8.

What Hose Candy kit did you use?
They don't sell 5/8" hose kits. Closest I see is the heater hose kit.
Sadly, Hose Candy is the most expensive part of this project. I might just buy braided hose when buying AN fittings.

No hose candy for mine but I just used some -10AN braided line and all was good

Yeah this is gonna happen when I change my oil next time...I hate the mess that is made with the factory set up...I do the foil trick but it still splashes and makes a mess (just don't stay messy)

I’m just going to get 10 feet. With the extra I can do my catch can lines as well.

Just so you’re all tracking if not previously mentioned, according to the packaging on this kit it is specific for our trucks.

I’ll be tackling this project tomorrow if it gets warm enough and put up an additional thread on it here.

Let me know where you mount the filter. I'm doing this once it stops freaking snowing out here. Always put off the oil change because of the mess.

There's a good spot on the frame rail on the passenger side of the truck about a 12"-18" from the OEM filter location, I'll take a picture of it shortly. I'm going to mount it as high as I can so I won't have to worry about damaging it while wheeling it off-road. I'm considering fabbing up some sort of metal or aluminum removable cover that would possibly prevent damage to the remote filter. I don't go off pavement often enough to jump on the cover right this moment, but it will definitely be something I will tackle here in the summer.

In the first pic, this is the spot I’m relocating to. It’s about 18” (probably less) from the OEM spot in the engine.

In the second pic, for reference, this is where it will sit on the frame rail next to the drop down bumper support/tow hook attachment point.

As you can see, it will definitely be vulnerable while wheeling. I’m sure I can figure out a simple box type contraption to keep damage to a minimum.

Nice, have to give this a try. What do you mount it with? Steel screws?
