REMOTE START # 82212424AB

Hi all,

I have been searching for the discontinued MOPAR remote start kit for my 2012 Ram 1500 for almost a year now. I have had no luck online or calling dealerships. I need part number # 82212424AB. I live in an area that is 100 degrees + for 3-4 months out of the year. I desperately need it. I am scared about using aftermarket systems because on my previous vehicle it caused some computer problems. If for some reason someone has one laying around I will gladly purchase.

If anyone could recommend a comparable aftermarket system that would be appreciated as well. I would prefer one that doesn't honk the horn when trying to start. My wife's Jeep is 2 clicks of the start button on the key fob and it starts right up with no horn. I live in a pretty quiet neighborhood.. Thanks in advance.

Lists all parts separately with prices and looks like they might have them in stock. You will need a way to program the BCM to add remote start. not sure AlphaOBD supports 2012.

Interesting.. Looks like they all are and are fairly priced. Would the dealer be able to program? I don't mind paying for the labor if so.

Can they? Most likely yes. Will they? You'll have to ask them.

There is a glimmer of hope though as all of the components that make up the kit are still available except for the hood latch wiring. If I am not mistaken I believe someone here on the forum was making them for custom applications.

Hi,
I am sorry but the 5th Gen trucks use a different switch. This is an available upgrade for 5th gen owners for which we will add to our site soon. I cannot think of any 4th gen models that had a red switch though.

Update.. went to Bestbuy and got a Viper system with 2 remotes for about $350 installed.. Could not beat that price and there is a lifetime warranty. Works great and the range is 1/2 mile. They also programmed my factory remote to start it if I ever lose the viper fobs. Lockx1,unlockx1,lockx1 and it starts right up. Very happy!

I bought a 2012 1500 big horn last week, it came with factory remote start but it isn't working. I get a hood ajar message and I installed a new OEM latch assembly/w sensor this morning. Im still getting the hood ajar message!!
Any suggestions

I would check the wiring to ensure its fully intact. Did you replace the latch with the same exact part #?
